Guardian Training

As you enter phase 1 you feel a chill run down your spine as the syringe extracts. It's time to prove to the Elders that you can survive guardian training. You easily take down the demons as you enter phase 2. Now it's time for you to show your endurance in battle. You have a 5k run with the demons. This is the easy part I think as I finish my run in 5 mins. The quickest time ever that I've finished! Next phase 3, Mental stability and endurance. Nobody has ever seen me while I mediate, I become invisible. Meditating is my special power I was born with. Most people get super strength or enhanced speed. Not me though, I got the rarest ability of them all. Nobody in the past Eon has had a mental strength like me. I'm also telepathic and I have telekinesis. I smile as I manipulate what the Elders are seeing without them noticing. Like I said, sometimes I scare people because of how powerful I am mentally. The Elders gaze in utter amazement as they see their life go through their head like a movie. They finally realize my manipulation plan. "Edward! Don't do this we can help. We know how you feel." They shout in unison. Funny, I thought you were going to say that. Now I shall reveal my masterful plan. I'm wiping out the Guardians. Even if it means to become one. They destroyed my old life so I'm destroying yours. Thanks for the memories and thoughts. Good-bye I say as I crush them mentally. They'll never be able to stop me now. The Guardians shall finally end with my name on their lips. I will no longer stay in the shadows while demons run this organization!

As I return home I catch my friend sulking in the alley. Hey Edgar! I shout. Edgar is my best-friend and has been for the past 12 years. We're both 18 and applying for the Guardians. Did you make the cut? I ask. I really hope that he did. I wouldn't want to be there without him, even after my plan has taken place. He knows my plan and supports it fully. We found out together that the Guardians' leaders were demons. I had a slight encounter with one and I can't say I'll forget it either. (Would you forget a tiny demon flying around a supermarket dressed as a fairy? How about one that shot fluffy plush toys at you?) Edgar's ability is flight. He can fly forever if he wanted to. This really comes in handy when we scan a demon infested village. I scout mentally and he flies over. Anyways we both signed up for the Guardians so I really want to know his results. As he flies over I debate on if I should read his mind. He's never noticed or cared. I decide not to as he lands. "Hey Edward, I made it all right. Except I "accidentally" made the results alter." He says with a grin. Me too, except the Elders at my group can barely walk. They don't even remember their names.

As I walk into my house my mother says "How was your day? Did you make the Guardians?" I yell back my day was great. I made the cut and I even got to join with Edgar. Gosh, she just has to be in my business. It's like she knows my plan. Somedays she wishes she could read my mind and find out what I'm doing. She'll never know or never understand. They killed dad. She thinks that he died in his sleep. (That's the alternate memory I implanted.) I'll never forgive them. They came in our house last year and arrested my dad. He resisted so they killed him on the spot. Nobody ever wondered why I started to access my ability. They all knew what happened. I brainwashed those men and now the murderers of my father are being still trying to recover. She couldn't bear with the pain so I took it away. Now I've had to support my mom. I'm working 2 jobs and I applied for the Guardians because they take care of your family's needs. I was promised money (1k of it to be exact) if I made it. I made it so I should be getting the money shipment soon. Maybe tomorrow. I walk into my room so I can train my mental skills. As soon as I go into my trance, the building next to us blows up.
