Snow's POV-
"We have to keep running!"
I should be used to this by now. Constantly running away from the Hunters has been my whole life. Plus running away from my fears has always been something I'm good at. I'm always afraid. Never have I ever been one to face my fears. I'm afraid of the outcome; the consequences. This is probably one of the reasons as to why my tribe deems me as 'weak.' Mentally speaking I guess they could be right, but physically I can whip some major ass. Though, I'd prefer not to. I'm more of a peace maker rather than one who is quick to fight.
"There's a cave near that hill over there." My mate points at a huge dark opening about one and a half miles from where we are. The cave is incredibly huge. If I were to estimate, I'm sure it's about three stories high and around twenty feet wide. Bright green grass smothers the outside of the cave along with many types of plants. Colors of red, blue, green, and yellow surround the opening. The light from the sun shines brightly above the cave where dozens of little critters sunbathe. The sight of it is breathtaking. I wonder why I have never thought of going there before. "If we can get up there before the hunters get a hold of us we could possibly have enough time to come up with a better plan."
I groan inwardly at the distance, but nod in agreement. We've been running for miles now. About twenty three miles to be exact. I may be a wolf, but I sure as Hell don't enjoy running more than approximately 15 miles a day, especially when I'm being chased by bible freak lunatics. I mean there is a point where you need to draw the line and that is when you begin hunting innocents.
We ran faster than humanly possible through the lively forest. Many species of birds caught my attention as they flew out of the tall bright green trees once we ran past them. Our incredible speed causes the trees to vibrate which is probably scaring away the birds. Rodents scatter from underneath the bushes and try to hide under anything they can find. All of the creatures in the forest can sense danger approaching. That's why all of them are searching for a safe place to hide. They fear the wolves and the only thing worse than the wolves are the Hunters. They flee from them. They fear the Hunter's smell. The many odors coming from the Hunters are what scare the animals the most. The smell of agony, torture, and death is the scent that the Hunters carry with them.
"Snow we are almost there. Please, pick up the pace." Kira pleads. She grabs my hand and pulls me closer behind her. The sudden change of motion and speed caught me by surprise which causes me to trip. I fall onto Kira with enough force to knock her down with me. "Snow! Are you alright? Oh God please tell me they didn't hit you with one of their arrows? Are you bleeding? Are you hurt?" Kira rambles worriedly. She shoves me off of her gently and searches for any signs of injuries. I sit up and rub my sore forehead from hitting heads with hers just before we fell onto the ground.
"I'm fine Kira. You just caught me off guard when you dragged me behind you. I tripped over myself." I close my eyes in irritation and inhale. Damn her head is like a rock. That really fucking hurt.
Kiras' previous emotions of worry disappear and replace them with a loving smile. The same exact smile that made me fall head over heels in love with her. Her palms cup my cheeks as her lips leave dozens of kisses all over my face. She places the last kiss on the tip of my nose and smiles once more. "Thank God you're okay. You almost gave me a heart attack for a moment there." Kira gets up and brushes the dirt and grass from her clothing. She extends her right hand out for me to take. I hold her hand in mine as she helps me up from the ground. Kira pulls me into her and presses her lips onto mine softly. This simple act turns my brain into mush. 'Wow, I am so in love with this girl.' Within a couple of seconds she pulls away. I pout like a sad little puppy and then the most angelic and melodic sound of her laughter reaches my ears. She gives my hand a squeeze. The feeling of her skin connected with my own creates large volts of electricity that travels faster than the speed of light throughout my body. Waves of chills make their way up my arm and into my heart. The wolf inside of me begs me to make sweet love to her right now. "Babe... Your eyes are turning that dark shade of brown again." Kira smirks; her eyes full of lust. The colors of my eyes give away my thoughts. She knows exactly what I'm thinking.
