Okay, for this one, just imagine you, Mark, Jack, and Felix are in a apocalyptic- style world. I greatly apologize if it's really touché and cheesy. Enjoy!
You've been injured very critically, steadily getting worse as Mark is standing over you and panicking. Jack has already covered your wound as best he could, but it obviously isn't helping much. Mark is cursing under his breath as your eyes start drooping shut. He's saying your name over and over, trying to keep you awake.
"Come on, you gotta stay awake, stay with me, Y/N." You glance up at his scratched and dirty face, long hair sticking to his forehead. You can see Jack a few feet away, letting you two have your moment. His face is clouded in knowing and looks very upset. Mark is shaking you gently, and the pain in your head lets you know that you're probably not going to make it.
You feel something wet hit your face, and you see that he's crying. "Don't do this to me, please!"
"Mark," you muster with all of your strength. It hurts to say anything.
"Yes, what is it, Y/N?" You know he desperately wants to hear your voice.
"You need to... Do something for me," you say between struggling grunts.
"I'll do anything for you."
"I know," you respond quietly, putting a hand up to his face, cupping his cheek and brushing it softly. "I need you to take care of Jack and make sure that he doesn't do anything stupid. When you get to HQ, tell Felix that he still didn't get me that thing that he said he'd get me- don't worry, he'll understand. I need you to only trust Jack and Felix, no one else. Not even Wade. He seems a little... Off to me." You grunted once more in pain, the throbbing in your head getting numb. You only had about a minute left.
"Jack," you called out to your best friend hoarsely. He looked at you, walking over with a small smile on his face. "Keep Mark out of trouble, got it?" Both of the guys smiled sadly at you.
"Will do, Y/N." Another wave of numbness washed over your body, making your vision get fuzzy. You heard Mark's voice- distant and full of hopelessness.
"Shit, come on! Stay awake, Y/N! Please!"
Mark's POV
I looked at her, color draining from her face as the life in her body slowly did the same. I couldn't stand the thought of losing her, but I knew she wasn't going to make it. I could tell she was struggling to keep her eyes open.
"Mark?" A sob pushed its way out of my mouth as she spoke once more. Her voice was so quiet, barely a whisper.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry... That I couldn't stay... I wanted to be there for you..."
"You always will, Y/N. You always were and you always will be." She laughed quietly, one last smile crossing her face. "You always know what to say." Pulling on the collar of my shirt, she kissed me one last time, her lips only lukewarm, but soft. I closed my eyes, wishing that the feeling on my lips wouldn't ever go away. She was fading too quickly for me to accept it.
"Mark?" Tears were streaming down my face now.
"Yes?"
"... I love you, Markimoo." Her eyes closed slowly as the words left her lips, as if they were her last breath of air. Her body went limp.
No. She couldn't leave me.
"Y/N? Y/N?! Please! Don't go, please! DAMN IT!" A wave of dread knocked the wind out of me as I yelled and screamed her name, sobbing hysterically, shaking her gently but desperately, as if that would do any good. As if it would bring her back to me. I hugged her body to mine as I sat on my knees.
I knew it wouldn't.
She couldn't leave me here. In this hellhole. I can't... Survive without her. She was the only thing that gave me hope. And now she's gone.
Please, no. This can't be happening.
"Mark! Mark, stop!" Jack's voice brought me back to reality. I looked up at him, a stern and sad look on his face. His eyes were red and watery. "Come on, man. We have to keep moving."
"H-how can I..."
"She wanted you to make it to HQ, right?" He gestured to her, no longer breathing as I cradled her. "Well, we can't get there if we don't fucking move. She would want you to get there safely, Mark. Damn it, I'm upset too, but..." I knew he was right, although I didn't want to go anywhere. I finally shifted, putting her on her back, beautiful face facing the ceiling. I stood up slowly, sniffling as I tried to breathe regularly.
"Okay, let's go."
Author's POV
Mark and Jack finally arrive at the HQ after a while, your death bringing the two guys down a bit, but giving them more determination. Pewds is waiting for them there.
"Hey, bros! Is everything all right? It took a little longer than I thought it would." The room is filled with a sad silence. Neither Mark nor Jack will make eyes contact with their friend. Felix slowly starts to realize that something is very wrong. "Hey, where's Y/N?" He notices Mark clench his fists, a look of sad anger covering his face. Felix gasps, covering his mouth in total realization.
"Oh my fucking god." Tears filled his eyes, and he shook his head in disbelief. "No, she can't be- she's not- is she?"
"She's gone," Mark shot back, surprising both of his friends. "She's... She's not... Here anymore."
"What do you mean she's not-"
"She is dead, okay?!" Jack and Felix jumped at his sudden outburst, and Felix looked as if he were going to cry.
"Jesus... I'm sorry, man." Mark walked over to him, hugging him comfortingly and patting him on the back. "I didn't mean to sound like a douche."
He sighed, pulling away from Felix and inhaling slowly as he ran a hand through his hair. "I need some time to myself." He walked off without another word, both of his friends looking at him in sorrow and understanding.
They knew what it was like. Jack lost his mom when he was only fifteen, and Felix lost Marzia three years ago. They knew what it was like to lose someone you loved, especially like that.
It breaks you. It really does.
