I am Soo-Le-Mada, child of Anji and Lali from the tribe begun by Derflamada, son of the Great Androgyne, Nikimada. As with all myths that are handed down to us around the campfire or dinner table, most of the facts have been misplaced or misinterpreted in the telling. The flagrance of the fable tarries. Those of us who follow as historians must glean traces of information and fragments of paper, translate and interpret primitive languages, and contrive missing details.
Perhaps you, the reader, will forgive the minor discrepancies and seek to discern the grains of truth that are meant to direct our lives. We are not required to become bogged down in garnering trivial statutes and connotations from the tales I present here for you. If you wish to know more of the life of Mada and her tribe’s lineage, you must search; they are there.
The story told here is that of Nikimada, the All in One, All in All, One from All, androgynous leader and teacher, Great Parent of Sunaru, the Essential Planet. We are known as Runians on this planet. There are twelve tribes who are direct descendants from the twelve children of Nikimada, the Kin of Mada, who was the Visible Daughter of Amma on Sunaru. She came to show us the way to worship the great Goddess, Amma, the wonderful Mother Creator of our entire system of galaxies. You, my siblings, are also children of Amma, the Omnipotent Very Being Itself.
Amma had put Her very existence into being many times before, but the children never learned Her truths. As She set each one into motion, She let them live as they wished until they finally destroyed themselves. She watched in sorrow as Jupiter became a ball of fire and Neptune became a land of ice. Even Earth, Amma’s Chosen Planet, destroyed herself as the Great Nuclear Winter descended.
It was some time before Amma could bring Herself to give birth to another child. But with a deep sigh, She willed a seed within Her great womb. She would take Her time with this one. For millions of years, Amma let this child form and grow inside Her. Carefully, She dreamed and planned for the life of this special child until She knew the time had come to give birth. She had anticipated this time, and thought it might never happen, but in what now seemed like only a few days, the Great Mother was in labor.
Amma breathed deeply as She felt the contractions grow stronger in Her womb. Finally, with a tremendous shudder and massive push, the planet Sunaru was born. Now She could rest.
* * * * *
Mada slowly opened her eyes. There was a nudging difference in the air this morning.
“Great Mother,” she whispered, “this is to be Your day.” Mada lightly touched the smoky gem centered in the wide gold band around her forehead to show respect to Amma. “You are most Holy, dear Mother. So be it.”
Morning prayer completed, Mada slipped quietly from her bed to watch the dawning of this glorious new day. Mada heard the laboring voice of Amma say, “You are my only daughter, and I have made you in my image. This day is yours alone. Greet the day as I have taught you.”
“You always know best, Great Mother. Show me what you wish me to do.”
Quickly, Mada chose a soft peach gauze to wrap her legs against the slight chill in the dark air. She carefully draped the gauze around each leg, then tied the ends below her navel. She adjusted the tiny gold chain that always clung to her waist and moved to the outer walls of the moor, Mada’s dwelling place of the Millennium.
“You are wonderful, O Mother.” Mada sang to the tune of the narrow gold ankle bands that tinkled softly as she walked. “You gave us breath and beauty. We praise You as we greet the morning, O Holy One.”
Mada stood at the tinted transparent window of her moor. She lifted her long arms over her head, her large full breasts lifting as if they, too, were praising their Goddess. Slowly Mada’s tall and shapely, smooth-skinned body began to move in rhythm to her song. The peach gauze floated gracefully around her dark brown legs. Mada sang and danced around the perimeter of her moor, watching for the sign that she knew would appear beyond the glass walls.
Suddenly, as though produced by her adoration, a faint pink appeared in the sky, hovering low along the distant horizon. Mada knew what to expect. Amma had taught her well. Yet the reality was so much more glorious than the expectation. Gradually, the pink spread wider and deeper. The inky sky grew lighter as the pink faded into light blue. Mada stretched her arms out wide to capture the glory of it all, as a huge ball of light began to appear.
“You have told me of the Sun, O Mother, and now I shall see Your great gifts.”
The Sun reached its full brilliance within minutes. Its beauty was overwhelming. A tear of joy and gratitude slipped out of Mada’s cream-colored almond-shaped eyes. Her deep brown skin began to glow with the radiance of the Sun. The sparkling rays skittered across the top of her head, with its smooth hairless skin stretched over a refined and provocative skull.
Mada continued to watch the Sun lift up into the sky. When it seemed to stop and hang there quietly, Mada devoutly touched the gray gem and repeated her prayer.
“You are most Holy, Great Mother. So be it.”
Mada was grateful that the windows of her moor were tinted. Amma had warned her of the glare the Sun could create. Mada’s eyes were unaccustomed to such brightness. For centuries she had been able to see only with the lamps built into the inner walls of her moor. At times, she had taken one of the lamps and ventured beyond the group of moors. But too much remained in the shadows, and she forced herself to return to the safety and warmth of her own moor. Now with the light of Amma’s sun, Mada would be able to see what lay beyond the moors.
“Beloved daughter of my soul,” Amma spoke again, “now you will know all the wonders of this planet. You will teach all your people to be grateful for my gifts. You will teach them how to live in love and peace forever. Today you will venture out over Sunaru to see for yourself what I have planned for you. And when it is time to rest in sleep, I will also let the Sun sleep. I will send tiny lights to ease your path in the dark of night, but remember – each morning the Sun will again travel over the sky as a sign of my love for you and my people. Live in Grace, Mada, my beautiful Madál.”
“So be it,” Mada whispered as she touched the gem. “And blessed be, O Mother.”
And that was the dawn of the New Creation. Amma’s daughter would lead the people out of darkness into Her eternal light and never bring destruction to one of Her creations again.
