As we drove up to our new house, my mom gave me a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry Abigail, we'll do fine here."
I gave her a small smile, despite my inner turmoil. I was against leaving London, I had left behind my best friend Penny, my boyfriend Noah, and my entire childhood. I wasn't sure I was going to do fine in this sunshine and waves place.
When I stepped through the inviting doors, my mood lightened a bit. There was no furniture, but it looked small and cozy. I hoped my room was the same.
I bounced up the stairs, giddy about the patterns of the wallpaper. It was literally snow flakes with penguins waddling near the floor. It was so childish, yet it seemed dreamy.
Maybe I was using drugs.... Was I?
I slapped myself.
"You will never do drugs again Abby...." I mumbled to myself. "That's a story that is done and gone."
I opened a door to the right, and there was a small yellow room with beige carpet, unlike all the hardwood on the first floor. There was a window on the left with a window seat which gave me a view of my neighbor's house. They were far away, but close enough to be able to have a conversation with the people on the same floor.
I sighed, I was in love with this room. I was going to take that room whether or not my mom liked it.
