Chapter 5

I turn to Riley. I know what we're doing.

There's about 30 members from my pack here now.

We're ready to attack the rogues.

I'm not going to lose Elijah.

We launch out and surprise attack them. I turn to my pack. And we do it NOW! I scream as we all run out and attack the small group of 15 rogues. They're surrounded. Don't attack them unless they make the first move, they don't have mind-link like us.

I pad over to the door of the old hydro-power shack. He's in there, I know it. I burst through the door and spot Elijah, he's out cold on the ground. I make my way to him cautiously, there's no visible rogues but I know they're there. I nudge him with my nose and he groans a little.

The sound of cogs turning and steam hissing fills my ears.

"Nice of you to join us, Scarlett," a tall man with defined muscles and brown hair emerges. I growl. "Steady there, I'm not going to attack...yet." He has a blood curdling smile on his face.

He changes into wolf, he's a dirt brown colour with yellow eyes. He takes me slightly by surprise as he charges at me. I get down low into a defensive position, as he snaps his jaw at me, I latch mine around his front leg and bite down. He howls in pain and I let go. He tries to bite my neck, I flip over onto my back and grab him under the chin and flip him onto his back. I get up and run to Elijah, I stand in front of him and return to my defensive position.

In the place of the brown wolf, is the man I saw just two minutes ago.

"Scarlett, that wasn't a smart idea," he tsks. A growl grows from deep in my throat. "Fiona get him," for a second I'm confused, but then I hear rustling behind me and a light grey wolf appears and grabs Elijah. I'm grabbed by the neck and flipped over onto my back again, the brown wolf trying to grab me again.
