The Day We See The Sun

I muffle a groan as Kirito stalks behind me slowly.
"Kirito do you want to leave here?" I ask, knowing what the answer already was.
"W-well yeah..." He mumbled.
We had been in the Underworld for a long time. Ever since dad left us here, ever since mum died... We barely survived and sometimes had to kill. Well I had to kill. Kirito would refuse to kill another human being. Today was the day we were finally going to leave.
"You're so mean ____" He pouts. I stick my tongue out as he playfully throws a punch.
"You do know where we are going right?" I ask once again just to make sure. He rolls his eyes and sighs.
"Trust me ____" He says smiling "It will work out"
I force a smile back as he leads us towards a massive dirt pile.
"Here we are!" He says fist pumping the air.
"You're joking right?" I ask hopefully. Kirito starts to scrape the dirt away with his hands but struggles to clean it all away. I sigh and crouch down to help him. When we manage to clean the dirt away he reveals a small wooden door which looks like it will rot away sooner or later. He tries to open the door but looks worried.
"What now Kirito?" I groan.
"I might have not known we needed a key to unlock the door..." He laughs nervously.
"Are you freaking-" But I stop myself there. He had been looking so hard for the door, using all the strategies, cheats and advantages he could get. He may have not been the manliest boy but he was sure the smartest one I knew. And there  I was standing there yelling at him. I took some deep breaths before making my move. I sharply landed a swift side kick towards the door and it flew open.
"What would you do without me Big Bro?" I smile. He grins and ruffles my hair as he walks past through the door. I follow him like a dog following its master. Suddenly we reach another door in the same state as the previous one.
"Would you like to do the honors ____?" He asks stepping aside.
"I'd love too!" I say side kicking the door, even harder this time. We both run through and exhale a huge breath of air.
Of clean air.

"See told you I planned it right!" Kirito laughs.
"Yeah yeah I get it, you're smart"  I laugh back.

We stare at the sun and close our eyes, absorbing the warmth of the sun. We are about to open our eyes when suddenly a loud ear piercing scream is heard. I open my eyes first and see a huge frightening head staring at something from the other side of the building. I watch in horror as it picks up a woman who is trying to escape the titans grasp. I watch as it bites down on her with a sickening crunch! Someone is screaming on the other side of the building calling out MOMMY! Over and over again. Kirito still won't open his eyes so I pull him along towards the voices. We turn the corner to see a blonde man with a small child in his arms.

Then we finally see one.

A giant titan is looming over the building staring hungrily at the two strangers. That is when I spot something on a dead corpse. A silver machine. The type the Survey Corps use to get around.

3D machine..? No...
3D gadget..? No...
Is the word 3D even in it?

Wait why am I worrying about this now? I grab whatever it was called and fumble around with the belt glancing at the strangers to see if they were still alive. I look over to Kirito and he does the same and grabs himself two blades before chucking me some. The gear was light and easy to use. In seconds me and Kirito were flying through the air as we yelled to get the attention of the titan. It looks over at us with its disgusting smile and runs towards us. I aim right for its ankles and manage to cut deep enough for it to fall.
"FINISH IT KIRITO!" I yelled as I swung back around towards him. He does a full 360 spin before slicing the back of the titans nape. It falls to the ground and starts to... dissolve? I watch as smoke starts to come up from the titan. Suddenly a slow clap comes from behind us. We turn around sharply and see a small man and the same man who was carrying the child from earlier.

"Well ,well, well..." The taller man says "I'm impressed, aye Levi?"
"Tch, alright technique from rookies" Levi scoffs "So whose squad you on?"

"Squad?" Me and Kirito say confused. Both of their faces drop as they stare in amazement.

"Wait you aren't in the Survey Corps?" The tall man asks.

"That explains the lack of technique" Levi mutters.

"No we aren't..." Kirito says as he steps protectively infront of me.

"Let's not talk here..." The tall man says looking around "It's dangerous"

"You just realised?" Levi scoffs as he heads off towards the wall.

" You two seem to handle the gear pretty well" The man smiles "Can you make it to the wall?"

I glance at Kirito as he tries to make a decision.

"Name first then we'll follow" Kirito says firmly.

"Erwin Smith" He says "Now follow"

Me and Kirito follow and keep up with ease. We land on the wall with Erwin and the short man.

"Levi be nice" Erwin says.

"Levi Ackerman" He mutters.

"And you two are?" Erwin asks.

"Kirito Kirigaya" He says. He looks at me as he stare at the ground and make circles with my feet "This is ____"

"Well you two..." Erwin starts "Go would you like to become  trainees for the Survey Corps?"
Kirito looks at me and I smile and nod my head. He puts his arms around me and ruffles my hair.

"We would like to be become trainees for the Survey Corps"
Kirito says boldly. Being as short as I am I look up at him and smile as I  put my arm around his waist, not knowing a certain someone was a little jealous...
