Everett's POV
I beamed down at Lily—she was a little angel. Even though I wasn't pleased that my baby sister had already given birth, I couldn't help but fall in love with the triplets. Lily looked exactly like Belle—so much that I found myself remembering childhood days in the Oak pack.
Belle would poke me until I grew aggravated, then run away giggling, knowing that I would chase her. I'd chase after her, irritated and upset, but her twinkling laughter would get to me and I'd end up grinning too. As soon as I'd catch Belle, I'd tickle her until she promised not to poke me again. We'd walk hand-in-hand to the kitchen to eat ice cream, laughing about random moments.
"Aww, you like that don't you, buddy?" Daph was cooing at Diesel and tickling his stomach with the tip of her finger. "You look just like your mommy and daddy!"
Her mate, Xavier, was perched on the armrest of the couch, a small smile on his face as he watched Daph and Diesel. I wasn't worried about Daph and Xav—Daph could take care of herself. In fact, I wasn't even very worried about Beau and Belle anymore. Beau had stayed with Belle until she was allowed out of bed, getting her water, helping her use the bathroom, and simply providing her with company. When I first met the kid, I wasn't so sure about him, but now I see that he's exactly what Belle needs. The spark in her eyes when he was around was reason enough to accept him.
"Hi I'm Catarina. Have any of you seen Belle?" A musical voice cut through the air, making me freeze in my place—I knew what this was.
I looked up to find her staring at me with wide eyes. Her eyes were the color of honey and her hair was like spun gold, cascading down her back in loose curls. She had coral lips and milky skin. Catarina was a petite girl. Her scent was delicious—bananas and brown sugar.
"Uh, yeah, I'll take you to her," I handed Lily to Xav and headed up the stairs to Beau and Belle's room—her delicate footsteps were audible behind me as she struggled to keep up with my long strides. "I'm Everett." I slowed down a bit so she could catch up.
"I'm—never mind. You know my name already," she sounded slightly flustered.
"So do your friends call you Cat?"
"Er, yeah."
"Mine call me Rett."
"I haven't heard the name Rett before," she commented.
"I haven't heard the name Cat before."
"It's... not that common."
"That's what I assumed." I grabbed her arm before she could walk into the room—she gave me a confused and slightly dazed look. "Are you busy tonight?"
"N-no," she stuttered a bit.
"Good," I flashed her a grin, "I'll stop by your room at six thirty."
A tiny smile appeared on her face and she nodded before walking into their room.
Catarina's POV
I took a deep breath and looked myself over one more time in the mirror—it was my first date with Rett and I wanted him to think I was pretty. I was wearing a navy blue vintage dress, black flats, and my hair was pinned back with a barrette. I still couldn't believe how stupid I probably looked earlier. He spoke so smoothly and confidently, whereas I stuttered and got lost in his green eyes.
I was staying in Belle's room at her grandparent's house. She'd moved in with Beau, so the room was free and her grandparents were letting me stay there for as long as I wanted. Honestly, I was shocked that I hadn't encountered Rett before—we lived in the same house.
