“I’d like you to meet Nick.” Harry announced, wrapping an arm around the shoulders of a lad. “Nick Grimshaw.”

How long has he been standing there? I didn’t notice him a while ago. Is he Harry’s best friend from where he was? Whoever this guy is, I’m not quite pleased at his presence.

“Lou.” Harry mumbled, snapping me out of my thoughts. Zayn had already greeted him as I had my trance and he wanted me to do the same.

“Sorry.” I said, before smiling at the lad next to my best friend. “Hi there!” I practically faked happiness in my voice, because who could know the difference?

----

Harry was the first to roll the ball, as we started bowling. He hit a total of nine pins on his first turn. “C’mon ! One more.” He whined and I walked nearer to him.

I chuckled. “It’s alright, Haz!” I patted his shoulder, “You can make a better shot on your next turn.” I winked at him, trying to cheer him up before walking towards the platform for my turn.

“Thanks.” I heard him mumble, as I rolled the ball. “Go Lou! You’re the best!”

I hit the last pin at my second shot, then jumped up and down. “YEAH!” I yelled. “Peter Pan has done it again; a spare!” Zayn and Harry laughed at my joy and as I glanced at Nick, I noticed a hint of bitterness in his look. “Any problem, mate?” I asked him.

“Nah.” He smirked. “It’s Zayn’s turn next, isn’t it?”

----

The game was nearly done and something with Grimmy was really odd. I couldn’t quite put a finger on it, but I guess he just doesn’t like me that much. Well, I wasn’t born just to please him anyway. Before Zayn could have his final turn, the girls finally returned and as Eleanor greeted me with a quick hug, Perrie wrapped her leans arms around Zayn’s waist from behind.

The friend of mine smiled automatically, caressing his lover’s arms as he turned and his eyes immediately landed on the blonde lady. “I missed you!” He yelled.

“I missed you too.” She giggled. “Sooo, who’s winning?”

“Cross me out of the list.” Zayn pouted. “It’s either Lou or Nick; I’m not sure.”

The lad took his final roll, before continuing the conversation with his lovely girlfriend. My eyes landed back on the smaller figure near me, who was intently watching our game.

I loved how Eleanor squealed when Zayn hit the last pin on his turn. Although he hit all the pins, it was yet another spare.

“Hey, I thought you’re on my team!” I frowned at the giggling girl, showing a hurt expression as she cheered for the black-haired guy.

“Sorry.” She genuinely said, hugging me ever so gently. I reciprocated the gesture, loving the closeness we have. I then felt someone’s gaze burning on my back; I just really feel it… As I turned around, I saw my curly-haired best friend looking at me.

His lips quickly curved to a smile as he sees me looking in his direction, raising his hand for a ‘thumbs up’, while exposing his set of deep dimples.

I smiled back just before Nick cut the beginning of my thoughts, clearing his throat as his hand found a ball. “It’s my last turn. How about a cheer from you, Haz?” He smirked.

Harry left his gaze on me as his eyes looked at his friend’s. “Go Grimmy!” He cheered, cupping the sides of his own mouth.

We all watched as he walked up to the platform, rolling the heavy ball on the floor, and a tad bit slowly but accurately, it hit all pins at once.

Strike…

My eyes widened in shock as he jumped for joy. Harry stood on his feet and jogged towards the lad, being the first one to congratulate him.

He beat me… By one point.

“One point!” I frustratingly shouted, hands almost pulling off some strands of my hair. I was just infuriated.

My gaze met Zayn’s and I saw worry clear in his eyes. He immediately walked towards me, patting my shoulder saying, “Lou. Lou, come down. It was just a game.”

I nodded, trying to keep myself calm again, as I glanced at my friends. Eleanor was shocked, Harry was as worried as Zayn, Perrie’s hand was covering her mouth… But then, my eyes found Nick’s.

His eyes were showing joy and arrogance, not confusion to say at least. He was smirking, wrapping his arm around my best friend’s shoulder. I know what he’s doing. He’s stealing my best friend.

I closed my eyes, breathed in and out deeply until I have finally composed myself again.

----

“Something is seriously wrong with him.” I told Zayn, as we both sat in our usual spots in the teachers’ lounge.

It was Monday today and Zayn and I started talking about how the game went during the weekend. He was still very confused when I took my lost pretty badly then. I barely care when I lost, but when I knew that I lost by one point with someone I barely even know, I hated it.

I never hated the idea on not being the first. But, with Grimshaw? It’s purely different! There’s something with him. How his lips curve to smirk and eyes seem like laughing directly at me. He was surely pleased with the rage I showed.

“What do you think is that?” Zayn asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he didn’t notice something in particular with the lad.

I shook my head. “I don’t know…” I trailed off. “Yet.”
