"Violet!"

Violet jumped and looked at Kiara in shock. "Yeah, what? Sorry."

Kiara's tail lashed with annoyance. "Really Violet! Today it has been really hard for me and Autumn to get your attention!"

Violet apologised again. She did not like making Kiara angry, but she had been thinking of Instinct again. The previous night, after breaking free from the humans, they had talked for a while and then they separated and went their own ways home. She wished she knew more about him, or talked more, or even that he didn't have had to leave then.

"It's that tomcat right? Right?" Autumn said excitedly. Violet purred in amusement. She did not say anything, but lay down and stretched in a patch of sunshine. Autumn dabbed at her belly playfully. "Yes! I knew it!"

Kiara laughed. "The one with the green eyes?"

Autumn nodded. Violet shook herself and charged at her adopted sister playfully, with her claws sheathed. With a yowl of delight, Autumn threw her off and suddenly stared at something behind Violet.

Out of curiosity, Violet turned around. Her jaw dropped open in surprise and she ran over to welcome the cat standing there.

What would she think of joining the Clan? Will she be able to adapt?

Instinct purred as Violet ran to him and brushed her cheek against his. He licked the fur on her head as the other two cats who had been captured too the previous night joined them.

"Hello," the older cat meowed warmly, her eyes shining. "What brings you here?"

"Yeah! Violet hasn't stopped thinking of you all day!" the other one exclaimed. Instinct recognised the she-cat who had talked to him before Violet's cage toppled the night before.

All day? Instinct purred at the thought of Violet thinking of him.

"Actually, I came here to invite the three of you to join my Clan, in the forest."

He saw Violet's ears prick up.

"Yes! I'm willing to!" she said excitedly. The younger she-cat jumped up too, but did not say anything, although Instinct saw the excitement in her eyes. There was a dark look in the older she-cat's eyes, and she washed herself calmly.

Instinct went up to the older she-cat. "Do you want to join us?" he asked quietly.

"No, I'd rather stay here. It's time they left me," her voice shook a little. There was sadness in her voice, but he sensed her fight it. She's strong.

Autumn rubber her cheek against her mother's and Instinct stepped away and waited as the two she-cats said their goodbyes. He then gave a small nod to their mother and led Autumn and Violet to the forest, to their new lives.
