The first thing Amazon ever saw was blood. Her very own , hot, wet, and sticky on her scales.
The rain forest trees loomed high overhead, whisking away as she was carried by.
As she adjusted her eyes for the very first time she realized she was being carried by other dragons, her own kind. The Rainwings. All of their scales were a sickly lime green with white starbursts on those who were injured.
She cocked her head and look down at her own scales, surprised and a little amazed about how many colors were drifting through them. She glanced around at the dragon carrying her, an elegant dragoness with white, and deep green scales flickering with a dark purple around her wingtips and talons.
The dragon noticed her and smiled, diving slowly and landing in a small clearing in the forest. Wrapping her wing around her and the dragnet. "Hello there, small one." The dragoness murmured softly.
Amazon, just newly hatched, managed to become confused. A light shade of pink drifted through the dragons scales, and were swiftly stamped out by a deep purple.
A loud sound came from the tree tops and came thudding down behind them. Crashing loudly through the trees.A dragon, his wings almost torn off his body fell down with a thud on the ground, and became silent.
Neither of them moved for among time, a wail sounding above their heads.
The dragoness bowed her head and winced, almost letting out a chocking sob. Then a loud roaring sound came above again, fire was crackling in the distance by now, and three more dragons came falling down, thier scales flashing a bright white. The dragon by Amazon quickly scooped her up and flew away, leaving the dragons to fend on their own.
"Erk?" Amazon squeaked.
The dragon shook her head and continued on.
They flew away in silence and soon the Rainforest began to disappear behind them.
Occasionally stopping for the night, fatrther and farther each day from the rain forest. Until the the disaster far behind them seemed like a bad dream, but she knew better. From those days on Amazon learned her name, and much more, but each day she swore to return to the forest.
