I had dragged Shane to my friends birthday party, he hadn't wanted to go but I insisted that he be my plus one because I didn't want to be there without him. I skipped in, pulling Shane by the hand. "Drew!" My friend Tiffany squealed, enveloping me in a hug. "Hi, Tiff! Happy birthday!" I smiled happily. I glanced to my left and saw Shane glancing around the room, standing awkwardly fiddling with his hands. "Oh! This is Shane by the way!" I said pulling my other timid closer to my side and wrapping an arm around his waist fondly. He waved shyly and mumbled a happy birthday, a slight smile gracing his lips. Tiffany said her greetings but then had to go peruse her birthday girl duties.

I got Shane and myself beers before going around and mingling with distant friends. I felt bad because Shane didn't know anyone here so he tended to stand awkwardly by my side until I introduced him. Even then he didn't really say much. He was stood close to me so I carefully ran my hand from his wrist down to his, slightly colder, hand and interlocked my fingers with his. I looked up at him from the corner of my eye and he grinned, seeming a bit more confident like this. I think a few people thought we were a couple even though we're not. We're really close and do a lot of things that couples do, so I guess it's an easy mistake to make.

I downed the last of my beer and pulled Shane with me to the bar so I could get another. Shane sipped his beer quietly as we waited and absentmindedly traced rhythmic circles onto the back of my hand with his thumb. A smile tugged at the corners of my lips and I blushed. The barmaid returned with my beer and scowled at our intertwined fingers disapprovingly before handing it to me. I immediately began consuming the contents of the frosty green bottle. "You might want to slow down a bit there, Drew." Shane chuckled. I looked at him as if he were mad and he just rolled his eyes as I danced stupidly to whatever trashy pop music was playing.

We were sat outside with Tiff, her and Shane were drinking red wine and I was on my fifth bottle of beer: give or take. We were all a little bit tipsy and laughing at nothing. I went off to go to the toilet, leaving Shane with Tiffany.

When I got back I spent five or so minutes trying to persuade Shane to come and dance with me, after all part of the reason I brought him here is so I had someone to dance with. After a while of Shane complaining that he 'can't dance' and Tiffany giggling at us, he gave in and I grabbed his tie and pulled him to the dance floor with me.

I spent most of our time on the dance floor laughing at Shane's half hearted dancing. "Hey Shane, maybe you were right about the fact you can't dance!" I giggled playfully, a wide grin spreading across my face. He punched me lightly in the arm and shook his head, laughing at my remark. The beginning of the Macarena started to play and everyone formed rows ready to begin the dance. Shane looked completely lost, his eyes were wide and he looked at me, I don't think he knew what was going on. "It's the Macarena, Shane. You've got to get ready to do the dance!" I beamed, jumping up and down on the spot. He got into the row beside me before leaning down to whisper in my ear. "Um, Drew... I don't know how to do the Macarena." He mumbled awkwardly. I giggled drunkenly at how adorable he was. "I'll have to teach you then won't I?" I enthused. I moved behind him, my chest pressed up agains his back, and grabbed his wrists, guiding his arms in time with everyone else's movements. I moved his hands to his hips and slipped my hands over his own. I pulled him impossibly closer as I rolled our hips together in time with the music, once again mimicking the movements of the entire group. The only difference being that we were the only two in the room dancing like this; the only two in the room dancing with someone else. I could almost feel my heart flutter at the fact I got to be so close to Shane like this, and I don't think it was entirely the drink talking either. I was faintly aware of the other people in the room but my attention was solely focused on Shane in this particular moment. We jumped to the side in perfect time and began the sequence again, I could feel the heat beginning to rise on my cheeks as we continued to dance so close. Shane's palms began to feel sweaty as the seconds ticked by. Suddenly he broke away from me, darting out of the double doors into the cool evening air. I frowned, feeling several people look in my direction as my friend walked out of the doors and away from me. I jogged after him, calling his name. I pushed the door opened and felt the cold air wash over me causing me to shiver. I spotted Shane leaning against the wall, staring into the distance. I waked up beside him and placed a hand on the taller male's shoulder. "Shane are you oka-" I was cut off mid sentence when something completely unexpected occurred. He kissed me. My shy, quiet, and down right timid best friend leaned down and crashed his lips onto my own. My eyes winded for a moment before I fully registered what was happening. I stood on my tip toes and tangled my hands into his long sandy hair as our lips moulded together as if this was meant to be. I sobered up instantly, this just felt so right. My stomach did somersaults and I blushed furiously and I would be lying if I said I hadn't wanted this for a very long time. All too soon Shane pulled away, averting his gaze from me and staring at his shoes. "Sorry." He mumbled, scratching the back of his neck.

"Don't be an idiot." I chuckled softly before clasping his gorgeous face between my hands and reuniting our lips once more. His hands rested lightly on my hips and held me close as we shared another perfect kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled away, resting my forehead against his. The moonlight reflected on his face and made him look even more beautiful than usual."You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that." I whispered.

"Drew?" Shane asked quietly.

"Yeah?" I answered, indicating for him to continue.

"W-what does does this mean? Are we...?" He smiled, blushing crimson. I placed a single kiss on Shane's lips. "Shane, will you be my boyfriend?" I chuckled.

"I'd love that." He smiled, pulling fully away from me and taking my hand. We heard a slow song begin to play from inside the building. "Come and slow dance with me." I said, smiling widely and pulling him back into the party. I guess it matters even less to us now if people see us and think we're a couple because we are.

I had a brain fart and wrote a Timids thing. I hope you liked it and whatever even though the ending was awful! <3
