Okay this one is a little shorter and I'm not sure if I like it but anyway here you go xxx

Chapter 2:

Contentment settles around me as I press play on the remote, allowing the intro music from "who wants to be a millionaire?" to fill the room. After repeatedly shouting the wrong answers at the screen I decide to quench the thirst that is beginning to take over my concentration. So, after pausing the television I made my way into the painted blue kitchen. Making sure to avoid bumping into the small, round pale oak table situated at the side of the room, I made my way to the neat row of white cupboards along the back of the room. After finding my favourite scooby doo mug I switch on the kettle and lean my body back on the counter. Closing my eyes I allow the silence to embrace me, a dramatic change from the blare of noise that usually surrounded the house. My heart beat slowed as an unusual feeling of peace consu-

My tranquil state of mind was snatched away from me by a loud screeching coming from upstairs, similar to nails being dragged along a chalk board.

Frozen, I listen for more telltale signs of an intruder. Five minutes pass with no more abnormal noises and I begin to doubt myself and question if the screech really came from upstairs. The realisation that the noise may have in fact come from outside, and my nerves are just on edge from being alone, settles over me. Chuck-ling at my own foolishness I set the kettle to reheat and attempt to calm my racing heart.
