"Welcome to homeroom class 101, in other words, Pre-AP English II! I hope you all enjoyed your summer vacation and did your Pre-AP summer readings as well!" Mr. Willis announced to the class as the class came to a hush. Students turned to each other in shock; slouching in my seat a bit, I can probably get the idea what they're thinking. Summer reading? What summer reading? Oh shit, we were supposed to read those boring books?! Their expression was priceless! Oh, I even know what's going to happen next in a few seconds!
"Ahem" Mr. Willis cleared his throat, "Whether you read it or not, you are all going to take the test over the book this Friday. Students, they call this class Pre-Advanced Placement for a reason. There will be no slacking off in this class; this class helps you get ready for Advanced Placement classes." And there it is. Students were still shocked; some looked feared of the work that has been set in front of them, others gave a "Like I care" expression. Hah! I smirked. That test is gonna be a piece of cake! I read all those books over the summer, being the reader I am. It's not like I had anything else to do. Summer is a waste of time, in my opinion.
"Moving on!" the teacher's voice boomed. "When I call your name, please come to the front of the class and introduce yourself by saying your name and your hobbies to your fellow classmates." Mr. Willis instructions made me lose my train of thought. WAIT? WHAT? Introduce myself in front of the class when he's here? Oh God, this can't be good! Everyone in the class listened quietly to hear who has to go up. The class became dead silent as Mr. Willis went through the list of names on his clipboard he was holding.
"Amy Kempt." was the first name to be called out. Phew! I let out a relief sigh, I'm so glad I wasn't the first person to go. A skinny tanned girl, Amy, slowly walked to the front of the class. She opened her mouth and began to speak, "Hello! My name is Amy Salinas. My hobbies are dancing, singing and kayaking." She smiled as she quickly went back to her desk.
"Kayaking... Huh, never been kayaking before." Mr. Willis muttered, "Thank you, Amy. Jem, you're next." Mr. Willis announced. My eyes widen as I sunk lower in my chair. SHIT! SHIT! I mentally cursed to myself. What am I gonna say? I began to think. "Jem, when are you planning to go up and introduce yourself?" Mr. Willis said while everyone turned their heads to look at me. I could feel twenty pair of eyes staring at me from all directions. I quickly started turning red.
"Right now, sir." I muttered quietly. Slow as a turtle, I walked up to the front of the class. I took a deep breath as I began to speak. "Hi. I'm Jem Harper. I like to umm..." I trailed off as I realized I was staring right into his beautiful green eyes! More people began to stare at me when they didn't hear me speaking. Oh god, I hate stage fright. "I like to paint, write poems and I love my car. Follow me on twitter!" I rambled and dashed as I fast as my legs could take me to my desk before people could comprehend what just happened. Phew, that wasn't too bad, I thought.
"Ok... Next Is Noah." the teacher said as he was checking off the names on the clipboard. Yes! It's finally Noah's turn! He's so darn cute! His wavy light brown hair perfectly lands on his face allowing his beautiful greens eyes to show. Noah's white complected, has a nice muscular build, he's taller than me by about 3 inches and to top it off he's in soccer! Noah Everett strolled to the front of the class. He didn't look nervous at all! Probably it's because he's used to all the attention. Without hesitation he spoke with a voice full of confidence, "Noah Everett is the name. I enjoy playing soccer, being with my homies and going to the gym." Wearing a little smile, he sat back down.
30 Minutes Later
Class was finally over. After we all introduced ourselves in front of the class, we had a few minutes of free time. For the rest of the period, I sat quietly as I listened in Noah's conversations he had with his friends. I turned to see him gathering his stuff together as I came up to with without a thought, "Hey, Noah. How have you been?" I asked him without thinking. Noah looked confused and gave me a weird look, "Do I know you?" Staring face to face I began to blush. Figures, I thought disappointedly. He doesn't recognize me, then again, I never talked to him in person before."I was hoping you know me..." I whispered shyly. "What was that?" he asked, looked down to my face."Erm... Nothing..." I said as I quickly began to gather my belongings and rushed out the door. I heard a "Wait" as I was about to step through the door. Slowly turning back it was Noah. He walked up to me, grinning "Why are you running away from me? I don't bite."I knew he was teasing me.I slowly began to smile as I was looking at his cute face. "I know you don't..." That came out as a small squeak; I blushed in embarrassment.I heard a small chuckle came out of him. "Hahaha, you sure are funny! Well, see you around school, Jem." he said with a small smile. Well then, so he does know my name! Probably because I had to introduce myself before him. That's the start!
