I long to go back to where I began.
The waves, though there was no ocean.
The shine, which people chose to give.
The beautiful sight, though the streets were of garbage,
The wondrous smell, though the stench made you twitch.
The magnificent sounds, though the sirens made them faint.
The people and land were two different things.
I chose to keep in my heart,
To copy and obey,
The place where it all began.
Regret is a horrible creature,
With talons that scraped me to death.
The sorrow hurt more than the beast.
I had always known it,
But now it's more and too clear,
Kindness is the people.
Kindness always wins.
