I pull up to a hotel and shut my car off. It's been 3 months now since
I've left August. I've traveled to almost every main attraction sight in the
glorious state of Tennessee. I never stay in one place for very long but,
I've become accustomed to moving around a lot. As I step out of my
car to go into the office I look up to see that the light in the O is going
out. I walk through the door of the office and I immediately recoil as a
putrid smell of old food waifs into my nose. There is a short balding
man behind the counter and I address him asking for a room key. I pay
for the room and quickly walk out. I walk a short distance down the
building until I find my room. As I push open my door I know already it
was a mistake to try to be cheap. After a hour I get settled into my
room, I think to myself that I could use a hot shower from being on the
road so long. I walk over to the bathroom and open its squeaky door.
Inside lies a small stand up shower and toilet, after putting in some
consideration and debate, I run a hot shower and get in. The warm
water feels amazing against my cool skin. I stay in until the water gets
cold and step out wrapping myself up in a towel. The bare tile in the
bathroom immediately makes me shiver sending goose bumps up my
spine. I decide to quickly get dressed in a warm sweater throwing my
damp hair up into a bun. Probably not, the best decision for fall weather
but I'm a risk taker. My stomach grumbles at me, and in defeat I grab my
car keys. I drive around looking for a pizza place, and finally find one
after 20 minutes. As I walk inside, the smell of pizza is present. A tall
lanky boy with a horrible case of acne on his cheeks greets me with a
warm smile. I smile back and order a large pepperoni pizza. Simple is
best. I go back and wait in my car as they make my pizza avoiding as
much human contact as possible. I enjoy being alone a lot more since..
Well since him. Being alone is peaceful, no rules, no one to tell you no,
you are the master of everything. The boy motions for me to come
back inside. he leans across the counter giving me one of his must be
famous smiles and hands me my pizza. I turn quickly to leave and he
calls out to me "I haven't seen you around here before." Without
turning back around I reply with "that's because I'm not from here." I
rush out the door and hop in my car speeding off before he has the
chance to say anything else.
