Once upon a time starts every nursery rhyme
starts the tales where the heroes win.
Once upon a time the villains lose,
the damsel gets her kiss.

But this is no fucking fairytale
we're damsels and dukes in distress.
Where are our heroes in shining armor,
who will save is from this war in our heads?

We are the authors of this reality, where nightmares can't be left with a kiss.
We were the artists and authors of our own stories, but is there any novel as tragic as this?

We were once innocent,
the children with lovely dreams.
We were once young, wanting to grow up
but, damn how wrong we were?
This "growing up" is not like it seems.

We are not characters from the books lining our shelves
We are not the tales to put little children to sleep.
Fuck those dreamy tales
we are the nightmaric reality.

We are not happily ever after. -DV
