A/N: Hello (please don't do what I'm going to bet you will)
I walk the familiar path down to where I had placed my hair ribbon the day after I got my job. I have the directions in my pocket to leave if she has finally arrived.
I approach the fence slowly and quietly to make sure no one is watching. I make it up to the fence and notice Jess's hair ribbon tied on top of mine.
I had just untied the first ribbon when I hear the faint sound of a boot crushing leaves on the ground, I freeze for a second. I've been here for just around a year but I know that's a peacekeeper and that's long enough to figure out that they are not friendly.
I jump into action running as loudly as I dare in any known direction away from the sound. I keep running while hoping Jess and Caleb don't follow in my foot steps.
I round the corner and notice two peacekeepers heading my way. I stop and try to find another route around them, though by this time the one who had followed my foot steps had caught up and the other two had joined him. I had no way of escape due to them surround me on all sides and a wall on my other.
The one starts moving closer to me, I try to hold my ground, until he harshly asks, "What were you doing at the fence in the middle of the day?" I stutter and can't find my words. "If you can't tell me that, mind telling me if you know what this is?" He says holding up my pink ribbon.
What do I tell them? While I'm trying to figure out what to say he decides to say one last thing, "If you do not get reaped tomorrow and you do not volunteer you will be found. And let me tell you, you do not want to be found." I couldn't believe what he had just told me, he was actually threatening me. "Good day miss."
They all walk away and leave me stranded in disbelief. I still need to get Jessica the directions, but now I have to come up with a way to be more distinct. The only good thing is that I was planning on volunteering anyway.
I decide to go and pick up my boss's food from the butcher and baker and then figure out a way to get Jessica the directions as I walk back.
***
I am on my way once again to get The directions to Jessica. It is after nightfall, after curfew. If I am found now I could be punished severely. I make it close to the fence until I spy two peacekeepers standing near the spot where the ribbons were. I duck under a nearby bush and look around my surroundings.
My eyes widen in both shock and fear as I notice a little glint of of light high up in a tree. I can't believe it, Jessica is wearing something that can reflect light. Does she know anything about survival one oh one? She could be caught any moment now.
I look back down at the oblivious peacekeepers, who's attention as well as mine was turned to the path as the sound of a twig breaking echoed through the area; A third peacekeeper had arrived.
I look back at Jess and meet her eyes. In that moment I do two things; One, I promise myself that what ever happens Jessica will live, and two, I hide the directions in the bush hoping Jess saw me.
I take a deep breath and step out into the open right onto a pile of leaves that crackle under my weight. I look up at the peacekeepers, one of which immediately yells at me, "Stop now and your punishment will not be bad," and I stop my self from laughing at that, knowing that any peacekeeper punishment is already harsh.
Even so I put up my hands and allow my self to be marched off with one of them who has a stop grip on my collar. I make one final decision and scream, "I love you Jess..." Getting caught of by the peacekeeper yanking up on my collar choking me slight, teaching me that I should probably not speak.A/N: So hi people who might possibly still be interested in this story.
