Jade looked face to face with a monster that she has never known. Herself... She expected to see the normal amber eyes, the telltale sign of a supernatural; but instead saw piercing shards of ice that impaled her soul. Two eyes that could destroy the world she has begun to know and love.
"What are you doing with that?!" Jade's mother said, bursting into the room. "I, uh... I" she tried to reply but the words would not leave her mouth. She knew she was going to be punished. Mirrors are forbidden in the land of the supernaturals, and Jade was just caught red handed. Her mother ripped the mirror from her hands and threw it onto the floor, shattering it to a million pieces; leaving the shocking image portrayed in the glass. The terrible color still being reflected by every piece. "Do you have any idea what you've done?!" Her mother quietly yelled. Jade broke down. Her eyes flooding with silent tears knowing the things she has discovered. "You never told me... Why? You thought i could live forever thinking i was one of you?!? Well you're wrong! WHAT AM I?!?!" Jade screamed, not caring who overheard her rage. "I didn't want you to find out this way... I never knew you would be so hurt by this. I thought i raised you well enough to know that being different doesn't matter. Im so sorry Jade..." Her mother said, trying to fix the mess she had made. Jade ran past her mother and out the door, not stopping until she reached the front door. She had to make a decision; open the door and escape the city, escape her horrid reality; or stay and be punished greatly for her crime. She turned around and looked directly at her mother. "Goodbye." and she turned the doorknob.
