I knew what heartbreak was, but I was yet to experience the pain of such thing. I knew what loneliness was because I felt it every day. I'm young, only at the age of 19, I had time to figure out my life. Now, throughout my years of living, I have been given everything I've needed and wanted, but don't get the wrong idea and think I'm some rich snobby brat. I have respect for myself and intend and always have intended to work for things. So, the moment I turned 18, I decided to move out of my parents nursing and live on my own, I wanted to prove to them, and myself that I can become something without their constant help. I had decided to go to college, to become an artist. With being so busy do to school I have never really experienced having a boyfriend, I've always had no time for things like that. And I had kept myself pure, while my friends had lost a part of themselves, but I've always promised myself to give myself up to a man that I truly trust, and love.

The sound of my phone ringing went throughout my house, as I slowly got up from my bed to get my phone from my living room. As I saw who it was, I quickly answered, seeing as it was my friend Mia.

"Why in the heck are you calling me at two in the morning!" I said harshly, wanting to go back to bed as soon as possible.

"Well, you see, I'm sorta drunk and I need you to come pick me up." She slurred, drunken words coming out of her mouth as she spoke. This has happened before, and I scold her every single time she comes begging me at some ungodly hour to come pick her up in her drunken state. I swear, she never seems to learn.

I sighed, wishing just to fall peacefully back asleep, but I knew I had to go pick her up. "Really Mia? Again?" The line went silent for a few moments before I continued to speak. "You better be ready, I'll be there in ten minutes." I said, with a slight edge in my voice.

As I hung up, I grabbed my car keys, slipped my shoes on and grabbed my phone as I ran out the door. Living in Baltimore, there's many bars that Mia could be at, but for some reason she always decided to get wasted at the same one, night after night.
As I pulled in I could make out her skinny figure standing outside of the building that had music blasting from within it. Once she saw my car she quickly shuffled to my car and opened the door to get it. Seeing as it was two in the morning she was going to fall asleep any second.

"I'm sorry for having you pick me up again" she said, I could hear the guilt in her voice with every word, and my anger seemed to dissolve. I kept silent, seeing as she was going to pass out any second.

Once we had pulled into my small driveway, I swiftly tried to get her out of the car, failing, as she was groaned once I started to just drag her, due to my lack of strength. Once we got to the door she was standing on her own, but was about to fall asleep at any moment again. As I unlocked the door she walked slowly to my bedroom and threw herself onto the comfy mattress. Realizing she was going to sleep selfishly, by taking up all of the beds space, I groaned and walked into my guest room, with a slightly less comfy mattress. And instantly feel back into a peaceful rest, as darkness consumed me.

Groaning, and stretching my muscles, I wake up to the smelling the scent of bacon. As I walk out of the bedroom I see Mia in the kitchen setting out plates and utensils for the food she prepared. Although she's up at 11:00 am, she looks like a train wreck, due to her hangover. As I walk over to the island made of granite, she turns around and jumps at the sight of me.

"Holy shit, you scared the living hell out of me!" She said with an annoyed expression plastered onto her smudged makeup face.

"Why are you making breakfast?" I chuckle, slightly surprised, but pleased.

"Oh yea, I felt bad for waking you up so late to come and get me, so I decided to make us breakfast." She said giving me a smile before she turned around to focus her attention on the stove. "Also, I have a surprise." She said as a smirk formed on her plump lips.

"Oh, what now?" I said giggling slightly, but also becoming a bit nervous, due to the fact we're talking about Mia here.

"Don't get mad or anything, because I know this isn't exactly your 'scene,' but do you remember that kid named Jack Barakat, back in highschool?" She asked hesitantly, before I nodded in response, but actually lying because I honestly don't recall. "Okay, well he's throwing a party and asked if we could come, so I said yes!" After those words came out of her mouth I groaned loudly, knowing I had no way of getting out of this.

"Mia, seriously? I don't want to get wasted and dance with some random strangers I don't know of. I have schoolwork to catch up on, an I don't exactly have party attire to wear." I told her, but by the look her face she was determined to make go.

"Oh come on Harper! Take a break for once and have some fun, maybe you'll meet someone!" She exclaimed, as I rolled my eyes at her response.

"Like I even have time for such thing." I mumbled to myself.

"Now go shower and get ready! I'll be back to pick you up at five!" She said cheerfully, and she gathered her things and headed for the door. Great, I have six hours to kill before going to some party that I'm going to dread.
