The thunder clashed and banged above the Texas sky, a steady pattern repeating itself endlessly. It shouldn't have been frightening to Dave at this point, he even already knew the sequence of the strikes. One..two..three..CLASH...One..two..three..CLASH.
And yet, each time it struck the boy gave a small jump and yelp. The noises burned into his pale ears and sent immediate fear into him. It was times like these that made Dave wish he had someone who actually cared for him. Someone who could reassure him, comfort him, hug him, and all that cheesy shiz. It was true he had Bro, but he wasn't exactly that kind of dude. Was he rad and a true irony sensei? Heck yeah. And irony was pretty dope and all but.. sometimes, being cool wasn't the biggest issue. There was Lil Cal too- actually, nevermind. That demon spawn was out of the question for reassurement.
In the moment, Dave had curled himself into a big, cozy ball of card deck blankets settled in front of his desktop computer, trying to get himself to work on his newest SBAHj comic. It was supposed to be the big "Seasoned Finale" or whatever, but he just wasn't feeling it: The only reason he was working on it was to take his mind off of the weather, but it wasn't helping very much.
"Needs more memes," He muttered to himself, going to pull up a new tab with his black mouse.
CLASH.
"Fricking gosh dangit!"
Much to his frustration, it seemed Dave's mouse had slipped over to the "Close Browser" button and clicked that instead. This was definitely one of the best nights of his life! And he totally wasn't thinking that in a snarky way. Nah, not at all. At this point, it felt as bitterness began to sting the blonde more than his fear nipped away at him. Now that Dave was too irritated about closing the browser on SBAHj that he didn't feel like working on it, what was he to do?
He didn't feel like rising out of his blob of blankets, so anything on the outside of his barricade of comfort was out of the question. Nor did he feel like doing anything on the computer anymore, even if it wasn't SBAHj. Gosh, not only was there just a storm outside but now he was feeling absolutely bored out of his mind. How could Dave possibly top this fricking amazing night off? Before any more verbal irony could seep out of him, there was a buzzing sensation from his pants pocket that interrupted him. He burrowed his arm into the bundle and pulled out his phone to find that someone was pestering him. Unlocking his phone and going to the Pesterchum app, it looked like this someone had bright green text, a bubbly spirit, and was someone Dave enjoyed talking to a whole lot.

Ignoring the thunderous noises and flashes of lightning from outside his apartment, Dave managed to crack a smile. He decided to turn off the computer and slump himself into his bed, still in the middle of the mass of blankets. As the boy stared up at the ceiling, for some reason he was still smiling. Although Jade might not had been physically there for Dave, she was close enough to it for him.
