I barely opened my eyes and found myself surrounded by nurses. I was in the hospital. My lower right waist was wrapped in bandages, and the pain was unbearable. My left hand was connected to an IV drip, and I couldn't move it. The pain intensified, but I couldn't even scream. My vision was blurry, and everything around me seemed distorted. On my right, I saw Thomas, his eyes filled with tears. The sight of him crying made me feel faint, and I could sense my blood pressure dropping.

A doctor approached me, preparing an injection with some sort of medication. I've always been terrified of needles, but this time, I wished for more. She gently held my arm and rubbed my skin with cotton. Fear overwhelmed me, and I instinctively pulled my arm away, turning my head to the side. I looked at Thomas, showing him with tearful eyes and a shake of my head just how afraid I was of the injection. He took my hand, and our eyes met. When she finally administered the injection, I didn't even feel the pain. Thomas leaned closer, and his soft, kissable lips touched my forehead as I closed my eyes. That moment was the best of all. The boy I had dreamed about was right in front of me, here when I needed him the most. Every time I looked at him, my pain seemed to lessen.

The next morning, I tried to move my fingers. I called out softly, "Thomas, Thomas." He had stayed by my side all night. When I opened my eyes, I saw him resting, his hands covering his face as he tried to sleep. Seeing him, I attempted to move, and he immediately woke up and moved closer. He took my hand in his and looked into my eyes.

Thomas: "Are you alright?"

Me: "I'm fine. I'm so sorry for everything that happened to me. You've been here with me all night, and I don't even know how to thank you."

I said this while crying uncontrollably, tears streaming down my face like water from a faucet.

Thomas: "Thea, please don't cry. I'll be here with you no matter what. No one will hurt you again. I won't let anyone hurt you."

His comforting words breathed new life into me.

Me: "Can I ask you something, Thomas?"

Thomas: "Sure, why not?"

Me: "How did you know my name?"

Thomas: "Your phone. You left it on the road, so I picked it up."

Me: "Oh, Thomas, thank you. Thank you so much for everything."

Thomas: "For what?"

Me: "For staying with me."

Thomas: "It's okay."

Me: "Okay."

Thomas: "Okay."
