I Am Water (poem)

Lingering in the shadows
Of a broken mind,
Searching and collecting
Pieces left behind,
I have stayed silent---
Silent as the sea,
Yet crash like violent waves,
And misbehave against
The fish who swim together.
For, as much as I am water,
Never do I blindly follow
The quick river's flow.
So, come to me with
Burning coal as your eyes,
And I will watch your
Flames grow inside--
Grow with rage
And rise, and rise,
But who ever said vengeance
Must be hot and vicious?
With water in the
Seams of my soul,
I need no fury,
No burning strength,
But the calm deception
I am weak.
So, you may come to me
With lingering hate,
But I will crush you with waves--
Throw your words at me
Like scorching weapons,
And I can swallow them
With graceful aggression.
I am water;
A Knight with deception.
I come with no armor,
Yet I will hide
A dagger for later.
