Louis Tomlinson had a child at a young age. He was just 16 when he got pregnant after a one night stand. Seeing as it was a one time thing with a complete stranger, there was no commitment at all. This didn't help Louis at all. He had to drop out of school to care for his child as his mother kicked him out upon discovering the pregnancy. Louis had just enough saved for a little flat. Of course Louis had a job but it didn't pay very well so it barely covered the cost for the flat or Harry.
Every single month Louis had a choice between keeping his child warm or keeping food on the table for him. With rising bills Louis knew he couldn't afford both. By the time Louis payed the rent for the flat each month he'd be lucky if he had £20 left. Louis opted to keep food on the table. Cold food of course, but it was all he could do. Louis made Harry wear many layers of clothing to keep him warm during the colder months of the bitter winter. Unfortunately for Louis, things were rising in price as it neared Christmas.
Christmas was never a happy time of year for Louis. He had to sit back and watch his child get nothing but a slice of bread with a little jam on it. That was Harry's Christmas surprise every year. Jam. He got a different flavour every year. Even with that, it made Louis struggle a little to afford other things they needed. It had never been easy for the two but they had each other. That was all they needed to be happy. The love and company from each other was all they ever needed or wanted. It was all they had.
Harry was 4 now and he didn't understand the lack of money or the stress Louis was going through. All Harry knew was he had to be well behaved in order to let Louis keep his sanity. Luckily, Harry was a good child. For all times were hard, he never once complained or asked for more. Harry had accepted that he would get what he was given and he had to be grateful for it. Although it was hard for Harry to imagine, he knew many other children were in the same situation or had even less than he did.
Harry had no toys, no TV, no bed, no sofa, no chairs, nothing like that. All he had was a few shirts, a few pairs of pants, a few pairs of socks, a few pairs of underwear, one pair of shoes and a small blanket that had been Louis' when he was a baby. He didn't mind though, he knew Louis was trying his hardest. He knew Louis loved him and wanted the best for him and that's all Harry cared about. His father's pride and love. He truly respected Louis. He basically idolised Louis in many ways.
