I didn't even dare call Jake that night. I was nauseous and scared. My whole mind was racing even worse than before and I had to pull out my gaming consoles just to keep my head from thinking up anymore stupid shit.

"Damnit, Adam, stooooooop!!"

I started banging my head against my desk until I could feel my brain throbbing. No use, might as well go to sleep.

Even that didn't help. I ended up staying up all night, cursing my helplessness. So I fell asleep in class. Woke up when the final bell rang and Ashley was standing next to me.

I yawned.

"Hey, Ashley."

She was looking down, not willing too look me in the eye.

"Hey... sorry about yesterday..."

She was worried about that? Guess she was really scared of me finding those bruises.

"Hey, don't worry about it... I'm sure you have a perfectly good reason for those. I should be the one apologizing for grabbing your jacket like that. I overstepped some boundaries."

She looked up to me and smiled.

"It's okay, I'm sure you were just worried about me."

I stretched my arms, trying to get the drowsiness out of my system.

"That I was, dear. That I was."

She pulled up a chair and sat next to me.

"So, about those story ideas of yours..."

"Oh, right."

I went to grab my notepad and showed it to her, but she was texting on her phone.

"Boyfriend?"

"Huh? No, a friend from middle school. We kept in touch even after graduating."

"That's cool. I have the same but with a friend from elementary school."

"That's really cool. Friendships like that are meant to last a lifetime."

"I sure hope so. He knows too much. If he were to betray me, I'd have to kill him."

She started laughing. I'm glad nothing changed too much after yesterday. I just want to forget about all of that. Just as she was gonna open the notepad, her phone rang.

"Now it's my boyfriend. Sorry, gimme a minute."

She went to the hall and I grabbed my bag. They way she always took those calls and talked about him yesterday meant she really liked him. "As long as she's happy", is what kept telling myself. That's all that matters. She was on the phone a bit before she came back.

"I'm sorry, my boyfriend wants to hang out today. Rain check on those story ideas?"

"Uh... Sure, don't worry about it. We can do them any other day."

"Thanks a bunch, Adam."

She hugged me and ran off. There was something weird in that hug but i payed it no mind.

Before I knew it, I was leaving for home when I noticed her with a man. Different school uniform. The guy must've been atleast six feet tall. She seemed happy with him at least. But the way she cringed whenever he touched her... That's weird. They left and instead of minding my own business, I tailed them.
