Round 2: Monsters-  Sapphire Suez

Eleven campers in total were seated in the amphitheater, and all eleven of us had no idea what was going on. Chiron stood on the amphitheater stage, and paced back and forth anxiously.

Then suddenly, he turned to us, and what little talking there had been faded into silence.

“All eleven of you must fulfill a quest, a prophecy was given, and you must fulfill it. It will be dangerous, very dangerous. We usually do not allow quests bigger than three people, some of you may not come back.”

Silence still reigned, as no one dared say a word. All of us exchanged glances, especially me, my sister, KK, and our friend, Rayne.  Any more than three who went on a quest, well, three came back, but usually the others didn’t. It was a scary thought to process.

Chiron cleared his throat, and started to speak again, “The prophecy is this: Eleven demigods must combine their forces, Some may fall, but one will rise, Monsters destroy and kill, blood shed left behind, Demigod forces combined, must go far to a land of rain all year, They will lose some along the way, to save the land of Demigods.”

There was an audible gasp amoung the crowd gathered in the amphitheater, we would have to travel to a place full of rain, losing people along the way, to save our camp. At least that’s what I think it meant.

~The Day The Quest Starts~

I pull my bag over my shoulder and am followed out of the Poseidon cabin my KK, who is just as worried about this quest as I am. We meet up with Rayne, and wait as others drift in, and Chiron looks at all of us.

“This quest will be very dangerous, and for those of you who come back, there will be a giant feast in your honor. May your journey be safe and successful.” Then he vanished, leaving all of us standing at the border to Camp Half-Blood.

“Well I guess we better get moving.” I took one step outside of the border, and immediately, there was eleven monsters, all prepared to attack me.

Soon all the demigods were in full fight mode. Weapons were raised, battle cries were called, and then, the noise of fighting was everywhere. I had a Telekine, which was actually pretty intelligent. I swung my sword in an arc, but it missed the monster by a hairs-width.

I moved closer, realizing this was going to take more strategy than I had originally thought. I saw KK out of the corner of my eye, dealing with a Hellhound. Rayne, I couldn’t see, and I hoped she was okay.

I went after the Telekine again, this time taking more care for a little more strategy in my attack. I feigned to the left, then swung back to the right and sliced right through the monster, making it disappear into a large pile of dust.

KK was done with her monster, and others were too. Rayne was still fighting, her daggers swinging in deadly arcs around her monster. I still had my sword out, while KK, who was grumbling about her blade being covered in monster grime, and was sheathing her weapon.

Rayne’s monster, which I wasn’t quite sure what it was, came at her with its claws, and she barely dodged in time.

“KK, did you bring your throwing knives along?” I asked my half-sister, who probably had her latest interest in weapons with her, even though her aim with them had a little to be desired. She handed me the sheath of them with a quizzical look.

I took one out, and carefully took aim at the creature attacking Rayne, because whatever it was, it was about to get the best of my best friend.

I threw the dagger, and it landed right in one of the creatures blood red eyes. With a howl, it faded into nothing, and Rayne turned around with a surprised look on her face. She picked up the knife, and walked up to us. I had already given KK back her case.

“KK, when did you get better at knife throwing?”

“Yeah, seriously, that was a nice shot,” I told her, with a small wink.

She cleared her throat awkwardly, “Um, lucky shot, I guess.”

“Well, thanks.” Rayne told her, as she sheathed her daggers in the sheaths on her thighs.

“Well that whole monster attack, it makes me think this quest is going to be interesting, what do you think.”

The two friends looked at me, and nodded their heads, looking at the other demigods, who were putting their weapons away and heading away from the camp and towards our destination.
