Whatever way you want to look at it, the 'rooms' in Punk Hazard were just prison cells painted white.

Eustass Kid stared. There were two sets of bunk beds in the room, a barred window, and small stack of books in the corner by the door. Not only was it strange for there to be hardly any furnishings, but two of the four beds were occupied; a black haired man sleeping restlessly on the bottom of the right bunk bed and a green haired man sleeping in an upright position against the wall on the top of the left bunk.

"Tada!" Trafalgar Law cheered from behind him. "I read on your chart that you've been put with our little group, so welcome, Eustass-ya!"

At the sound of Law's voice, the black haired man on the bottom bunk- who had been shifting and twitching in his sleep this entire time- shot up, trying desperately to open his tired eyes.

"Law?!" He called out frantically, looking around the room wildly.

Kid was shoved aside almost instantly as Law rushed to the man, all cheerfulness gone from his face.

"Law, Law, Law, Law..." The man gasped reaching out with trembling hands and clawing at the cinnamon skinned man's arms.

"Shhh, Ace. It's only a night terror. I'm back. Law's back." Law soothed, pulling the young man into a soft embrace and stroking his tattooed fingers through wavy black hair.

Kid watched in shock as the man, Ace, began pushing Trafalgar away frantically.

"NO, DON'T TOUCH ME!" He shouted. "YOU'LL GET BURNED! STAY AWAY! STAY-"

Law cut him off by hugging him even tighter.

"It's okay, it's okay. I'm fireproof, remember? I'm not getting burned, see?" The tattooed man cooed reassuringly.

Ace let out a few more incoherent shouts before his words grew sluggish and the freckled man collapsed back into unconciousness.

Law set him down gently on the bed and Kid heard a snort come from the green haired man.

"Kuso kureijī yarō..." The greenette huffed in another language, then flopped down and turned to face the wall.

Again Kid stared.

He was in a room full of crazy people. This was actually happening.

As soon as the sounds of snoring came from both of the beds' occupants, Law turned and gave Kid a tired smile; and- for the first time- the tattooed man looked sane.

"My apologies, Eustass-ya." He sighed, sitting on the edge of Ace's bed and once more running his fingers through the wavy black tresses. "This is Portgas D. Ace and up there is Roronoa Zoro. Ace... He was in a bad car accident along with his brother Luffy, the rubber boy I told you about. I was with them but came out with only minor head trauma. Luffy-ya's ribcage had been crushed and I tore it open so his lungs wouldn't collapse. Ace had been impaled and somehow set on fire."

Law paused and his eyes flickered down to the faint scars visible all along Ace's arms and neck.

"Now, for whatever reason, Luffy-ya has no memory of the crash and believes he's made of rubber. And, even though I put it out a long time ago, Ace still thinks he's on fire."

Law stayed quiet for a few more seconds, staring down at his own faintly scarred palms before looking up and smiling. "Oh, and Roronoa-ya over there insists that he's a samurai and will only speak in Japanese."

"Ore wa, samurai, kono yarōdesu." Zoro grunted sleepily, as if to prove Law's point.

Kid raised a confused eyebrow at Law for translation but the man just smiled and shrugged his shoulders.

It was at that moment that a woman, perhaps only a year or two younger than Kid, in a nurse's dress entered the room, a tray full of gormette pudding cups in her arms.

"Pudding time!" The woman chimed in a happy, melodic voice.

Instantly Ace darted back up, no evidence of his night terror on his face or in his attitude. "Pudding?" He shouted cheerfully, darting to the woman.

The honey haired nurse let out a laugh. "Mister Ace, as hungry as ever, I see!" She giggled handing the man his pudding, then turning to the 'samurai' of the group.

"Mister Zoro, your pudding."

The man grunted and took the snack from the woman before turning back to his original position.

The woman giggled and turned to Law, a playful glare on her face.

"Law, you better eat your pudding this time!" She chided. "Mister Sanji and Miss Pudding worked hard on those, so eat it! You'll never get better if you don't!"

Kid watched as the cinnamon skinned man chuckled and raised his hands in defeat. "I'll eat it, I'll eat it." He chuckled, taking his pudding and the spoon it came with.

The woman smiled in satisfaction and planted a kiss on Law's head before turning to Kid.

"You must be Mister Kid! My name is Lamie. It's a pleasure to meet you! I do pudding runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the other days you will have Miss Nami. Now, this is your pudding. Make sure to never switch with someone else or give someone else your portion. You get one in the morning after breakfast and one at night after dinner."

Lamie handed Kid a cup of pudding and the redhead could already tell at first glance that there were several different sorts of pills stuffed into it.

Kid scowled, but Lamie stayed smiling. "If you guys need anything just call! Lunch is at 12:15!"

"Bye Lamie!" Ace called out as the young woman exited the room.

"Your girlfriend?" Kid found himself asking his tattooed roommate, one eyebrow raised.

"Sister, actually." Law chuckled, picking through his pudding with the plastic spoon he had been given. "She applied for a job here when she heard I was admitted. It's lucky that we're in Aokiji's half of the hospital. She never would have been hired if Akainu had us."
