2:15 A.M. by nartatoe

If you're wondering how I chose the title
then for you it would be vital
to read what I wrote,
and maybe you'll find some quotable quotes

Although this doesn't contain anything too deep,
I wrote most of it half asleep.

It's monday night, I'm tucked in bed
running random thoughts through my head.
Am trying to decide what to write about.
I guess I work better when the lights are out.

So, do I write about something light, or something dark,
or something that touches your heart?
I got potential topics ranging from
potatoes to why I chose HUMSS.

Though I can't seem to decide on one of them,
before I know it, it's 12 am.
After checking the time,
and pairing words that rhyme

I notice the moon's round like a lime.
I wondered if I should write about it.
But after some thought I deemed it unfit for a topic,
maybe I'll write about something microscopic.

I don't know, writing isn't my thing.
Interrupting my thoughts the alarm clock rings.
With that said,
don't place alarm clocks near your bed.

Or else your ears will be bleeding red.
Going back to choosing a topic.
Maybe I'll pick a random word, like endoscopic.
Nope, scratch that, maybe I'll write about cats in hats.

I give my brain some time to rest,
then conclude it's for the best
to start thinking about what the title will be first,
because deciding on a topic might make my head burst.

I don't want my brain matter splattered on the floor,
because then I'll have to clean it up,sweep all that out the door.
I want to go to sleep,
but I still have a deadline to meet.

I still don't know what the poem will be entitled.
I'd probably be sleeping later than that, if I were in STEM.
Too sleepy to think, I decide to make the time my title.
I look to the clock, it's 2:15 am.

Everything you just read
is what I crammed in bed
and if I'm reading this out loud,
I apologize if any of your ears bled.
