I'm so confused, I'm in a daze
I have to write a poem, and write it today
I don't know what to think, I don't know what to say
So I close my eyes, and quietly pray
Lord give me an idea, a brilliant one
I need it today, this has to be done
Then came ideas, a million and one
So much to talk about under the sun
Just choose one thing, one thing you like
Stop and think, then go and write
Remember the rhythm and the rhyme
-the beat that goes with the time
-the words that sound quite the same
Don't overthink, it's just like a game
Don't be pressured, just have fun
Don't limit your mind, let it freely run
Write about the world you've always dreamed of,
About the raging seas below, or the clearer skies above
Write about the day that's just gone by,
Was it a good day? Did you laugh, get angry, or cry?
Write about the time you want to relive again
About the good old days, the memories created then
Write with your heart, what you truly feel
Put into paper your emotions so real
Poetry isn't a burden, it's a wonderful gift
To bring you someplace, your minds adrift
They say it's an escape from reality and truth,
I say it's a mirror, reflecting the truest of you.
