Hola! This chapter was more of a filler, well, everything except for the surprise at the end. Anyways, if anyone wants to view the prom dresses, click on the external link to view the dresses. I have made a slide show of the dresses, hair, nails, shoes, and corsage of all the female characters(Elena, Beth, Sierra, and Megan). Hope you enjoy the slideshow, I worked very hard on it. Alrihgty then, read on my readers!
Merci!
The following morning, I woke up around 9 and decide to lie around in bed for a while. I was really having second thoughts about going to prom. I grabbed my phone from my dresser and went to Facebook. When I looked through Facebook, all I saw was how all the people from school were ‘excited for prom’ or ‘getting their hair done for prom’. I went to twitter next and the same thing was going on there. Finally, I went to instagram and looked through my feed. Many of the girls had pictures of them getting their hair done.
I was curious so I ended up visiting James’ profile. The first thing I noticed caused me to get a sick feeling in my stomach. He had a picture up of his date for tonight and she was gorgeous. I vaguely remember seeing her at school. Her name is Christina and she is a senior like us. I knew that we stopped talking to each other a while ago but I couldn’t help but feel upset that he was able to move on that easily. I mean, I knew we didn’t have anything serious but hey, I’m a girl.
After looking through integral, I decided it would be a good idea to get out of bed and begin my day. I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to eat a bit of breakfast. “Good morning sweetie.” My mom said when she saw me entering the kitchen. “Good morning mom.” I said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Where’s my breakfast?” I asked her jokingly. “Ha, you better get your own breakfast.” She said laughing at me. I gave her my puppy dog face and she rolled her eyes. She always falls for that look.
“What do you want? I’m making pancakes for your father and I.” she said, giving into my puppy dog face. “That’s fine. I’ll have pancakes. And where is dad?” I asked her. “He’s in the bedroom watching some TV.” She said turning back to the stove. “Oh, okay.” I said, grabbing a water bottle and sitting on a stool that was next to the island in our kitchen.
“So, you excited for prom?” she asked me while beginning to whisk the pancake batter. “Eh.” I shrugged. “What do you mean ‘eh’?” she asked me. “No reason. It’s just I always imagined having a date and do the couple pictures and everything but that’s not going to happen. Instead, I’m being picked up by the girls and I have to go to dinner with a bunch of couples. It’s just not what I had hoped for.” I answered truthfully. It felt good to let her know why I’d be home early tonight.
“Well, look on the Brightside of things.” She simply said. “What bright side?” I asked her. “Well, you don’t have to….. Well, I don’t know. I was just trying to make you feel better.” She said. Normally, if she was one of my friends I would have rolled my eyes at her but since she’s my mother, I couldn’t help but laugh at her answer. “Well, thank you mom. It’s the thought that counts.” I said taking a sip of my water.
“When we finish eating breakfast, go wash your hair and I’ll do it for you.” She said, handing me my pancake. “Alright. Thank you.” I said grabbing my pancake from her. I put my plate down and took out 3 glasses. I opened the fridge and pulled out the orange juice. I poured juice into all 3 cups and returned the juice. I grabbed my cup and plate and went to my room. I turned on my TV and watched MTV while I ate my breakfast.
