Kayden's POV"I had two cookies, Kay!" Lily squeals into the phone, my lips curving.
"I'm glad Lil. Are you happy you didn't have school?" I ask, my fingers setting the chips in my mouth as I talk to her on the phone during lunch hour.
"Yes. Mummy is taking me to the store," she says, my lips curving. Even though I'm eighteen and Lily's five, I love to be with my little sister.
"Well, I hope you have fun at the store," I smile, saying goodbye to her. As soon as she hangs up, my friend Isaiah comes over and we eat lunch, the two of us going back to class. The rest of the day goes fairly quickly and I stop at the gas station after school. I start looking through the aisles and I crouch down, grabbing a bag of chips. I stand up and lock eyes with big brown eyes, her blonde hair pulled onto the top of her head and my eyes immediately fall to her plump pink lips.
"H-Hi," she shakily says, my lips curving.
"Hey," I grin, her lips curving. She walks to the register and I step behind her, telling the man I'll pay for it.
"I-It's okay, Kayden. You don't have to," she mumbles out, my eyebrows frowning.
"How do you know my name?" I ask, her cheeks so pink. She's beautiful.
"I go to Green Bay High," she tells me, my lips curving. The man at the register hands me the receipt and I walk out with the girl, her stature taller than most girls but I trump her. I'm six foot five.
"What's your name?" I ask, her brown eyes meeting mine.
"Marisol," she says, my heart racing. The name is so beautiful for a girl like her.
"I-I have to go," she rushes, her hand waving. She walks away as I say goodbye, her body walking away. Fighting my mind right now, I run up behind her and grab her hand. She quickly turns around and I look down at her, her eyes locking on mine.
"Can I have your number? To text you?" I ask, her eyes widening.
"W-What?" she asks, my lips curving. Clearly, I must have an effect on her.
"I'd like to get to know you," I tell her, her lips parting.
"But...But I'm not...I'm not popular," she says, my hand still holding hers.
"Do you really think that matters?" I ask, my lips curving at her flushed cheeks.
She looks at me, skeptical before she reaches into her pocket for her phone. I take it and put my number in, texting myself fairly quickly.
"Will I see you soon?" I ask, her lower lip taken between her teeth.
"Only if you want to," she manages out, my lips curving.
We say goodbye again and she walks away, my body getting into my car and driving to football practice. I get ready and start asking if anyone knows Marisol, and no one does. Is she really that quiet?
After football, I shower in the locker room and go home, immediately taking my sister into my arms. I sit on the couch and start to kiss her cheeks, my mum laughing at the two of us.
"Lily, you need to go to bed," mum says, Lily soon pouting.
"But I want to stay with Kay," she whines as usual, her arms tightening around my neck. I kiss her head of curls and lift her, telling my mum I'll put her to bed.
"I want you to sleep for me, Goober. And we'll play tomorrow," I promise, her lips curving.
"Okay," she grins, curling into my arms. I lay her in her bed and read her a story, her eyes closed by the time I finish. I kiss her forehead and walk out of the room, walking downstairs.
