He had to let her drop in this fashion. The last he saw of her was her straw hair whipping pat his ear and her eyes flashing in anger. Eyes, identical to his own. He hated what he’d done. Throwing her down and fighting his natural instincts to jump after her and take the fall.
He glanced at his wrist watch, light reflected off its polished surfaces for a second before it told Muse he’d have to wait another five minutes. He let go of the knob and wedged the front of his brown, ankle boots, so it wouldn’t close.
Four minutes.
He was clad in dark blue jeans stopping right above the mouth of his boots and a plain white shirt on top. He hadn’t thought to ask if he was expected to wear something more...well more.
Two minutes.
He rolled his sleeves to the elbows. Each bend giving birth to creases, his pale arms floating underneath, his excitement and dread pulsing under his skin.
Three. Two. One.
A flash of blinding light seeped from the thin spaces above and under the door. The illuminated the entire space Muse was standing in to reveal wide black and grey landscape. There were willows of impressive height aligned next to trees holding flowers of sheer grey. The grass encompassing the ground too was a color palette of different shades of black and grey.
Muse understood at once where he was transported. There was only one realm where there existed life beneath two raging suns.
He was in the dreamscape itself.
