With Sandra driving me (Joni) and her younger sister (Liberty "Libby") in an old stick shift-equipped car from Bedfordshire, the furthest point from the sea on the whole island of Great Britain, all the way to Cornwall for their mum's wedding, we got lost.
It was inevitable because Sandra's sense of direction is just plain awful and I had never been before. If it wasn't enough that we had no signal on our phones, and weak signal in our GPS, we also couldn't figure out our very outdated maps!
As the sun sets, we wind along a very long, narrow road into a tiny village by the name of St. Kew. We must stop for the night.------
Disclaimer:
The story is completely fictional, but locations, destination and roadtrip all happened in real life. We did take a trip one year from Bedfordshire to Pendoggett, Bodmin in Cornwall - where we passed through the real St. Kew that inspired this story. Our destination was in fact a wedding, but it is rarely mentioned in the story.
