° ° °She wondered what it could of been like, had the squids' chaotic attack hit the beach that one fateful day. Sliding against the wall painfully, Shelby was unable to tell what was her clothing and what was her blood. Her blurred vision scarred her awareness as she hit the floor, her sword falling to the ground beside her. The locked basement door shook wildly. Why had everything gone so wrong? The girl wondered again, letting her blurry thoughts run over the fake images in her mind.
Her breathing ragged, blood spilled, and kingdom fallen, Shelby was not expecting to make it through the night. She would be lucky if she lasted fifteen minutes. In all honesty, she didn't really want to make it. Her legs collapsed from their position against her chest, as the ruler realized she had one last resort. Taking the potion from under her cloak, Shelby drank the bright fuchsia potion. Shelby stood up, grasping her sword, on a temporary high.
The door burst open.

Sure, some strange things went down in Shelby's kingdom, heck, they happened everywhere. A talking humanoid purple dinosaur — likely a mutant — had brought goats into town to sell, and a fossil of two unicorns doing the dirty was discovered underneath the local bathhouse. Well, that thing always grossed her out anyways. Public baths? No sirree, this Queen is good with her private chamber. If anyone had come up to her to get the bathhouse destroyed, she would of promoted them to a position of 'lead strategist.' Plumbing was meant to be private — preach it! But what Queen of Shubble was not expecting, was an army of squids riding over the horizon.
Even stranger — was the boy being chased by the angry mass of tentacles. Wow, just, wow, not a thought Shelby wanted to be having on a Tuesday of all the days in the world. Or the week, same difference. But seriously, 'mass of tentacles'? Shelby, you're better than that! ...Moving on.
The boy seemed mildly astute, although Shelby was understandably struck with the thought she could tell that from here. From the looks of it, he was wearing what seemed like a purple jacket or trench coat — it was not able to be judged from such a distance. His hair appeared to be black, and he was trailed by a light blue and white cat. Huh, strange.
Deciding she had seen enough, Shelby decided a rescue was in order. Turning around, her cape sweeping suit, she authoritatively gazed over the guards down below.
"Alert the other guards we might be under attack soon, tell them you're under direct orders from me. Brace the gates and call all subjects who can fight to the dining hall to issue a warning. Handicapped and Children will be kept in basements on alert. Leave at least a few able-bodied people with the weaker, in case of attack and activation of the evacuation tunnels. We have an approaching sea of Calamari. Oh, and have a good day while you're at it!" Shelby smiled. Being yourself was essential to staying sane while going through all the boring politics meetings.
Walking through the wall in a blast of red magic, the Queen appeared in her personal armory, and outfitted herself with the appropriate materials for a rescue. The muscles in her legs rippled with excitement at the thought of being in a situation where she could actually run. Being Queen of a functional kingdom was quite difficult, mostly because she was confined to her castle, due to threats of overexcited villagers. She was elected as Queen, she made sure she was wanted as the leader before she took the position her birthright gave.
Equipped with three instant health potions, a light blue magic sword, crafted from a rare material other than diamond — though not as durable, it channeled magic in the most lovely way — a magic armored cloak, a tanned leather chest plate and legging, with matching boots, and an enchanted silver circlet placed atop her bright red hair, which gave her advanced reaction time and allowed her to slow time if needed, but at a great cost, she was ready. Tossing her hair in the mirror, Shelby smirked. She was ready to kick some ass.
