"A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, Y- Oops, sorry daddy." My three year old daughter was sat on the dining table in front of me, her green eyes filled with annoyance for getting the alphabet wrong once again.
"It's okay bug, try again." I smoothed out her long, chestnut hair and signaled her to begin her A B C's again. She started sounding her alphabet and with a few mistakes, she got to the last few letters.
"W, X, Y and Z." She finished and in triumph she launched herself into my arms. Her dimples mirrored mine and I kissed her forehead.
"Good job sweetheart! I love you so much." I pressed another kiss to her cheek and she held my face in her tiny, fragile hands.
"I love you more, Daddy." Her eyes squinted as she challenged me to one of her 'I love you more' wars- and as always she would win.
"I love you more than Chocolate." I bit lightly on the tip of her nose and she giggled.
"Daddy, I love you more than.... Otis!" She said as she pointed to the dog laying in his bed in the corner. Before I could respond, my work phone beeped in my back pocket.
"Go and show Mum you know your Alphabet, bug. I'll be right up to tuck you in." She nodded her head and placed a little kiss against my lips before waddling away upstairs.
"Styles." I spoke into the small Nokia.
"There's been a reported homicide on Logan Way just off of Old Colony Ave. We need you at the scene as soon as possible."
"I'm on my way."

"Name?" My long legs stretched ahead as I walked to the crime scene, unsure of what to expect.
"Carter Oslo." Carter Oslo..
"Let me see the file." I said as I took the manila folder out of the new interns hands and Liam looked from behind me.
"You know her?" He replaced the intern at my side and pointed to the curly headed blonde in the photo.
"....Yeah. Actually I do." Was the only words that escaped my mouth as my eyes scanned over the file.
