"Lila!" her sister Avery called from the bottom of the stairs. "Come on. Your going to be late for school!"
Lila moaned. She really didn't want to get up. She had been unpacking all her furniture and clothes last night and now she was so exhausted. She grabbed a pillow and put over her ears so she couldn't hear her sister nagging at her. She her sister and her father had moved from their beloved home town and moved into the country so she and Avery could have a better school education. As her dad thought it would be better for the both for them. As Lila's thoughts stretched on she didn't notice her sister sneak up on her.
Lila's her eyes her sister jumped on her, startling Lila. "Come on!" Avery pleaded as she swiped the covers off her sister and drew open the blinds. Lila averted her eyes from the brightness of the morning sun."Its the first day of school! Come on, you don't want to make a bad impression do you?"
"Why not?" Lila asked with a groas she turned to her sister. Avery huffed. "I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that." Avery said. and with that Avery walked out the door and into her room.
When Lila decided to get up she placed her feet on the soft blue carpet and sat on the bed for a while, letting her mind catch up.
Today was her first day of school, new school, and she was fighting with her mind to choose which side. One side was telling her that it would be ok, that going to a new school could be good. A fresh new start. But on the other, she worried what people would think of her. What if no one liked her? What if they thought she was a total psycho? She let her mind continue to fill up with fear until she couldn't stand it any longer. She decided to focus on the positive. "It will be great!" She told herself.
After a time she got up off her bed, put on white skinny jeans a high neck tank top with "Chick Meow" on the front, and some white converse. She walked into the bathroom and stared in the mirror. Her face was pale her hair, a tangled mat. She forgot to take off her makeup last night. And now it made her look like a possessed clown. She looked like a train wreck. Lila had spent the next twenty minutes fixing up her hair and makeup, and when she was finally finished she went down stairs and started rummaging through the fridge. "How long does it take you to get dressed?" Avery asked as she came down the spiral stairs. "Like, thirty minutes?" Lila thought about it for a while.
"How long will it take to keep your mouth shut?" Lila fired back. Avery gave her a look and playfully shoved into Lila.

Lila tired and looked up and down her sister. Avery was wearing a plain white tee shirt with denim shorts, her blond hair was straightened and combed back into a pony tail. She had put on a little bit of foundation blush and mascara. "You look nice." Lila complemented. Avery looked her way and smiled. "Don't I always?" She asked as she  flicked her hair back. Lila raised an eyebrow. I'm joking." Avery said. "Anyway." Lila huffed. "Are you ready to go?" Aver nodded. Well, come on go get into the car." Commanded Lila. "We have to be there in twenty minutes." Avery did as she was told. She picked her up her school bag, grabbed the car key and walked out the door.  Meanwhile Lila packed her books into her bag, started out the front door and locked it. She walked up the long driveway, got into the drives seat and started the car. On the way to school the girls were silent, Avery was busy texting. "So are you exited?" Lila asked. "Why wouldn't I be? We finally had to leave that stupid town we get to live near the beach!"
"Well the only reason we stayed there was because mum loved"- Avery cut her off. "Could you not talk about mum? I don't want to hear it." The car went silent for a long. The girls mother Beth was involved in a terrible accident, and she fell into a coma after an hour of being at hospital. Micelle their dad struggled without Beth. Avery was only three when it happened, and it was hard for him to try and work and take care of a three year old. And on top of that, a six year old. The girls and Micelle used to visit her in the past, but after they took her off live support, Avery refused.

"Look." Lila explained. "I know your hurting. I am too. But right now, we can't do anything about it." "Well, the question is why did they take her of life support?" Avery asked. "Avery, dad wasn't working at the time, he was still looking after you, and he couldn't pay for them to keep her on it. That was probably the hardest decision he had ever made. But she isn't dead, She could still wake up."
"That's what you and dad have been telling me for years!" She yelled, her eyes filling up with tears. "She's not going to wake up, she's dead!" "She's not dead Avery!" Screamed Lila. "She was never dead!" Avery cupped her face with her hands and started crying. "I want her back." Avery mumbled half crying. "I do too Avery." Lila said quietly. "I do too."
