Prologue
The little girl's mother stroked her long, dark brown hair as she cried, tears pelting down her cheeks. "Why are you crying?" she asked, looking up with her big eyes at her mother. She gave no reply but only continued crying. Downstairs, there was loud yelling and laughing as her father partied the night away, drinking with friends. Her mother tucked her into the bed and began to read a bedtime story to her. "Once upon a time, there was a little princess named Ebony...." she began, still sniffling away.
"Mummy...? Is Daddy coming to tuck me in as well?" the little girl asked, sitting up, waiting expectantly. Her mum just smiled as she continued to read.
One winter past, before her mother past away, leaving the little 3 year old in the care of her drunken father.

Chapter One- Things Now
I woke up and pulled the curtains open, letting the bright rays of sunlight into the dark room, its walls plastered with posters of all kind. I gave a big yawn as I slammed my alarm clock which had been wailing like an infant. I quickly washed my face and got changed into my new jeans and top, before spraying the expensive Chanel branded perfume on myself. I slid down the staircase and presented myself in front of my father. "You look ridiculous." he said after looking up and down at me. I sighed, nothing was enough for him. Well, except for that horrendous whore he called his 'wife.' "Morning darling." she said as she appeared downstairs half dressed, perching herself on his lap as she kissed him. I gave a moan of disgust. "Your other wife really did create something horrid didn't she?" she asked, referring to me.
"Well, at least my mum wasn't a two timing little slut!" I screamed, slamming my cup on the table.
"You will respect your mum!" my dad snapped.
"She will never be my mum!" I protested, clenching my fist tightly. "It's no wonder mum died, you really are a disgusting creature." I spat out, biting my lip. My dad was fuming by now, and I could see the blood veins appearing on his forehead. His new 'wife' was a Miss something, winning some sort of a beauty pageant. I was amazed, if she won, the other contestants must have looked like my butt. The only reason she would ever want to stay with my dad is 'cause he was rich. We lived in a mansion and owned around five cars.
"AS LONG AS YOU LIVE IN THIS HOUSE! SHE IS YOUR MUM!" He yelled, getting up. I gave him a glare, with my dagger-like eyes before storming off to my room.
"She probably is just jealous that she's not as pretty as me." she said, with a hand on my dad's chest, trying to calm him down.
"I heard that Gertrude." I said, coming back down the stairs. "You can suck it, 'cause my ass would beat your face anyday." I said, grinning as I stuck the finger up at her. I could pretty much see the steam coming out of my dad's ears and decided I should probably leave before he decided to beat me again. The last bruise had still not recovered and it sat as a dark purpley-black splodge on my back.
I locked the door and sat on my bed, wishing I had been born to any other family. Of course, I never told my friends anything, all they knew was that I was really rich and life was great. My friends were all from the first class stream too, being in a family with some sort of business or big company. Gertrude had met my dad after a party with all the big business associates and he'd taken her to our house straight away. She wasn't fit to be my mum, she was my age, well, one year older than me. I looked outside the window wear the leaves had all turned orange and they were slowly drifting to the road. I distinctly remember it was a day like this when my mum had died. My dad had not been there, even for the funeral, he had been out partying or sleeping with Gertrude. He disgusted me, but still, I had to stay, he kept a roof over my head.
