Life as a girl should be simple, full of happiness, cute boys, petty break-up texts, the usual and I like to believe that's how my life was supposed to turn out, before all the insane terror began. Adeline Shrivanov otherwise known as "Sunset Hill's Most Wanted" is what I'm stuck with now. Constantly on the run, never really sure when my end will be, I'm not deserving of life anymore but I keep fighting to stay alive. I mean, that is all i've ever known.

As a child I was gifted with loving parents, Carol and Leon. They gave me everything, always wanted the best for me, typical parent like things; however, they were a part of something much bigger, something I could never understand. We had just moved to Sunset Hills when I was around the age of 9 or 10 years old, my parents claimed it was for business and that the new environment would be good for me. I was to start school the following day, something my mama was very excited for me to do. She always told me, "Knowledge is what will save you, learn to remember and you will always have the upper-hand." That one saying is what has stuck with me throughout my entire life. I remember how it felt pulling up to our new house, it was small but satisfactory. No steps led to the front door, single-story, the walls were lined with a deep red wallpaper, how when you walked inside there was only one window on the side of the house. The kitchen next to a small walk in closet, and one bedroom in the back only big enough for a queen sized bed. We had just finished bringing in all of the luggage when my mama had said to me, "Adeline dear, please go unpack while papa and I have an adult conversation." I knew better than to argue with her, she wasn't someone you wanted to dissapoint so I did as she said.

It felt as though ages had passed, even though it was really just an hour, before I decided to go check in on my parents. I walked out of the room and heard whispering coming from the living room, "Mama? Papa? Is that you?" The whispering halted as I walked around the corner staring at two strangers, "Where's my mama?" but neither of them answered me. There was a man and a woman, the man looked around 30ish or so, he had a balding spot on the back of his head, a bushy mustache, and he wore glasses. His skin was rather pale and he had a gruff looking facial structure. The woman however was darker skinned, rather athletic looking, and had long brown hair that cascaded down her back. "They have a child ?!?" the woman whispered to the man. "Shut up Tamara! The boss didn't say anything about a kid, let her die with the rest of them!" the man responded roughly. I was terrified, imagine being a child hearing two strangers speak of killing you, "w-where's my mama and papa?" I stuttered but again the girl named Tamara and the man just looked at me. Then they both laughed and brushed past me out of my home slamming the door behind them. I was left standing there, alone and quite confused, but most of all scared.

I sat down in one of the chairs, trying to figure out where my parents could have gone when I heard faint screaming coming from the closet; or so I thought. I walked over to the door, about to open it when I felt heat radiating off of the door knob. I put my ear against the door and could hear coughing and screaming again. "Mama?" I said. I ran into the kitchen to retrieve the oven mits in an attempt to hold the door knob, but as i was inches from the handle, the door went flying off knocking me to the ground, followed by the sound of a deafening boom. For a moment I couldn't taste the smoke, see the flames burning around me, hear my parents screams, smell the burning room, or feel my own pain. But then I came back, like my soul was thrown back into my body, and I was aware of it all. The last thing I heard before the house caved in was, "ADELINE! NO!" Screeching out of my mama's throat, and that was the last I ever saw them.
