Chapter 7
Shadow had no idea what was going on, but he knew it wasn't good. The ebony hedgehog, fast as moebianly possible, grabbed the dazed fox and pulled him out of the house. Just in time, too, because right then, Sonic lunged for them. Teeth bared and eyes wide with murder. This was not Sonic. Or was it? Anyway, Shadow pulled Tails along the trail to towne until Tails came to. "Shadow!"
"What?!"
"T-That wasn't Sonic!"
"I kno-," but he stopped short when they saw the treacherous figure leaning against a tree in front of them. Shielding Tails, Shadow backed up slowly. You could barely see Sonic in the shadow of the tree, but the glow of his deep red eyes was impossible to miss. "I used to love it when they ran..." the figure started, with a horribly evil voice, as he straightened up and turned to the two fully. "But it's been a long time so... could you go a little easy on me? Then a wide and sharp grin split across his muzzle. "Sonic!" Tails yelled out to his old buddy with tears in his eyes. "Please stop!"
"And why should I?!" Sonic teased back, eyes and smile only getting wider and crazier.
"This is not you!"
And, with those words, Sonic's smile disappeared. He stared blankly for a few seconds before steam might as well have come out of his pointy ears. "And who are YOU to say that?! YOU've only ever known the old me! Who are YOU to judge what or who I am?! THIS is me, and if you can't live to except that," He stepped into the light. "You shouldn't live at all!" The blue hedgehog lunged at Tails with his sharp claws, full force.
The young fox braced for impact, but it never came. Opening one eye, the two-tailed fox peeked out at a terrible sight. Sonic had half a hand in Shadow's chest. Even Sonic seemed surprised. Shadow, stunned at first, smiled. A small, confident smile. The blue hedgehog looked up at his victim in surprise, before the look faded and was replaced with anger and amusement. Sonic dug his hand deeper into the ebony hedgehog's chest, smiling psychotically at the cries of pain. The black-eyed psychopath dug deeper and deeper till Shadow was on the ground, and trying to pull the hand out.
Finally, Sonic seemed fed up and pulled his arm back, ripping his victims heart which was bleeding and torn apart. As thebred and black hedgehog drew his last, struggled breath, Sonic dripped the heart onto the ground next to its owner. The blood-soiled murderer turned to see a small yellow fox flying at full-speed toward towne. Smirking, the blue blur followed, hoping for a little more fun.
