I want to speak for the "dirty" queer kids
For my lady loving lesbians searching for a pair of arms to call "home"
For my elegant, eccentric gay men with stars in their eyes
My independent and proud bisexuals searching for a place to belong
My polyamorous kids who can't get enough love
All of you transgender kids who dream of demolishing the gender binary
With your bare hands
Disowned, unloved, "going through a phase"
Why the hell do you think we are confused about our identities?
When our identities are all we have to grasp on to when you take it all away from us
Dear straight people and cisgender people and non-queer people:
What about my lifestyle makes you feel dirty and uncomfortable?
You make me feel uncomfortable
Your misgendering, your hate, your unwillingness to listen
You've made my body a prison locking me behind words like "she" "her" and "girl"
You call me a "slut" but do you comprehend the meaning behind your words?
You've slaughtered children
Ostracizing them and digging a hole for them to wallow in with no hopes of finding
Anyone and everyone and something
To comfort them or to love them or to tell them they are not a "freak"
This is me
Digging through the dirt, bleeding, sweating, praying and finding all of the lost ones
Telling you that they are wrong
Dear non-queer people:
Why do you hate us so much?
You've turned our lives into an endless hell
Drinking to flee from our parent's hate and giving our bodies to others
To make it another day as a queer kid on the streets
Surviving AIDS, Love wins
We have come so far
From the first brick thrown by a black trans woman one day
Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera
This is for you
One day we'll find our rights to exist in this world
