Hmm...

Should I or should I not?

Maybe I should....then maybe I shouldn't.

Hah....so troublesome.

.

.

I guess, I better not!

I took off my cardigan again and stared at the floor in deep thought.

Poor, boy. He sure did have a very bad day today at school. He might be very upset. Maybe I should check on him.

But...I - he - doesn't know me. Would I seem creepy showing at his door just like that? Sure.

Sigh...

Why do I have a heart that feels? So irritating.

"Big brother, why do you look so sad?", Cordelia, my little sister asked reaching for my hand.

I took her hand and cherished it. Did I really look sad?

"It's nothing, little sis.", I smiled at her.

"Well, then can you please search that episode of Tom and Jerry which we watched after dinner?", she asked, giving me the electronic tablet in her hands.

"Sure, sweetheart.", I said and took the tablet. Youtube was already opened in a tab and I went on to type the episode when a certain video title caught my eyes.

'Teenage boy commits suicide due to bullying at school.'

Goosebumps.

"What happened, brother? Did you forget the name of the episode?", Cordelia asked with her innocent eyes glaring me.

I shook off my head from the horrible thought and looked at Cordelia.

"No, brother remembers.", I said, caressing her shoulders. "Cordelia, big brother needs to go out for a while to meet somebody. But I promise I will be back for your bedtime story, O.K.?"

Cordelia nods.

"Where to, Hugo?", my mom asks as I was about to touch the front door knob. I turn back slowly.

"Ah, to...visit my f-friend.", I say awkwardly.

Her eyes pop out of their socket. Her smile as big as the Cheshire Cat's. Her expression causes me to look at the floor in embarrassment.

"Friend?", she asks as if making sure she didn't hear it all wrong.

I nod slightly. She smiles again and presses her hand on my shoulder.

"O.K. dear but come back early you know Cordelia won't sleep without you."

Mom was about to turn around when I said. "Actually, mom, he isn't my friend. We are just classmates. Ah,...he had a pretty rough day today...at school. I was thinking if I should go check on him.", I look my mother in the eyes. "But I am still unsure because we haven't talked to each other before."

My mother smiled and replied. "Of course, dear, you should. A few kind words in times of despair make strongest of bonds."

I nod. She is right. A few kind words.

I am coming for you, Victor Hernandez. I thought.

I pull my cardigan towards my chest as I move along the road. I heard it on the weather forecast today that it's the coldest day of March this year.
