A World Of Confusion

I turned down a couple streets and scanned around for signs of life as I tried to find this school.  Everything had such an empty look to it, it felt like an old ghost town... but new.  I tried racking my brain for anything, such as clues as to where I was.  I couldn't find anything.  By this point, it seemed impossible.  I contemplated calling my mom, but after some careful thought I realized she wasn't my mother.  Whoever she was, she just didn't seem like anyone I knew.  So why didn't I realize that sooner?
All my pondering had gotten me lost as I had stopped paying attention to the map and began questioning my sanity.  Who the hell was that? Was a big question.  So was, Where am I?  For a bit there, I had given up and resorted to staring directly at the sun.  Big surprise, the sun isn't real.  So, I decided to look beyond the city instead.  Looking off into the distance, I noticed a wall.  Third big question, why is there a large wall surrounding the city?
"Why not walk to the wall?" must have been what I was thinking because I had found myself walking closer and closer to the wall with each step.  My subconscious completely took over as I had turned into a "zombie" like person.  Everything that had been happening was killing me slowly.   Somehow it had quickly turned to night, though it had only been roughly a half hour.  The time here was whack and out of order.   Upon arriving at the wall I saw how much more aged it was compared to the rest of the city.  It had vegetation growing along it and the cement was beginning to crack from years of time and weather.  I had rested my back against it and sat down to close my eyes for a bit.
It was hard going on without any clue what was going. Still feeling the sleepiness from that morning, I quickly dozed off.  Not much later, I was awoken by a cold gust of wind that nipped at my nose.  Opening my eyes, I saw the leaves on the trees from the wooded area just ahead were browning and had an orange tint to them.  The grass was faded and yellow, the artificial sun was replaced by oddly formed clouds.  How could autumn have arrived so fast?  How long had I been asleep?  I forced myself to stand and began to walk along the wall, confused and dazed.
With my hand on the wall, I walked for what seemed like forever (or at least 17 days in this place) and found an old rusted door attached to the wall.  I pulled on the handle after taking a last look at the city, I couldn't shake the feeling that the city was... angry.  Don't ask how, because I certainly have no clue.  Upon opening the door, I found an open field with three winding paths.  Just before the single road broke off into it's three parts, there were three signs.  This time, in English.  One read,  left to death, this path lead off into what looked like an abyss in the distance.  The other, right is tight, slowly started shrink in the distance and walls thorn bushes seemed to cave in on each other the further you walked.  It looked quite painful.  The last, forwards was a mildly winding path that shot out towards nothing. I took a moment to think, to choose a path.  The first path was a definite no, the second unnerving and the third seemed the most safe.  So, onward I went.

I took the time to think to myself once more.  This place, is it some sort of dream?  I wanted to go home more than anything, I didn't feel alright in such a world.  A world where the laws of reality aren't obeyed and anything seemed possible and yet impossible at the same time.  A world of confusion.
