"Well do you like it?" The five dreaded words she had been expecting since she woke that morning, "Yeah it was great." she swallowed the lump in her throat that began to form each time she told another lie. "Lilly, did you really like it?" Jonathan asked as he placed his hands on her lower back. Lilly inwardly cringed at the proximity of this persistent guy, "Yes, now I have to go we can talk more later." She began to walk away stuffing her earbuds back into her ears, letting the beat fill her head an flow through her body with each thump and note, with each lyric she lost herself in a world that was only hers, lifting her higher than a rocket could. She left behind the stress and tension and felt the beat in every cell of her body. She began to walk into the school building, ignoring the people around her, she kept walking till she was at the door of her first class. Lilly reluctantly removed her earbuds and the worries of the world cam back down to her crashing around her, drowning what little relief the music brought.
Lilly went straight to the back of the table wishing she could have something to numb her hyper awareness of her surroundings. She looked around wishing she could go back in time and change her reputation. Lilly wasn't one of those quiet, hard working, nice and quiet people that she so often envied in secret. The only time she was ever sweet and quiet was when she was high or asleep. Although she tried her hardest to be different no one even understood how difficult that was, even though everyone loved to be around her or even hated her. All those people who talk to and about her just made her feel even more lonely than she already was at home. God she just wanted to scream every thing that was truly tumbling around in her head of dark curls. She wanted to scream to everyone THIS IS NOT ME THIS IS NOT WHO I AM! but all she could do was keep that mean girl facade up.
She smiled as her "friends" entered the room. She didn't dislike them, each and everyone of them was amazing and brought a different thing to the table. "Hey Lilly." the tallest one of the group said to her waving and smiling going to her normal seat across from Lilly. "Hey Becky new weave?" She grinned wide showing her adorable gap, "Yes girl yes." Lilly turned her attention to the other student who quietly slunk in an plopped right next to her, "Hola Jonathan." He gave her a tight smile in response. Timothy and Mike walked along with Julia. They all sat down around her, and she greeted each and everyone of them. This is gonna be a long day.
