From the day that a human is born they are assigned an elf that will be their personal elf for the entirety of their life. It is the job of the elf to ensure that at least one good thing happens to that person every day, basically the elves are what provide 'good luck' to people as they go about their lives. The thing is though that the human they are assigned to never see the elves, they remain invisible to the human's. It was almost like the Elves work in a different world to the human's. Dan Howell was one of these Elves, his human a now young man by the name of Phil Lester. Dan had watched Phil grow over the years into the amazing young man that he is today. Dan was currently following behind Phil as he made his way to the starbucks at the end of the block. Once Phil had gone into the store he got to work, working his magic to ensure that today Phil got some special customer reward for being a certain number customer that day. Boy did he love the way Phil smiled when he was so happy, the way his tongue stuck out the side of his mouth. Dan turned back, deciding it best to head back home now since his job had already been completed for the day. As he left he felt the thick silver bracelet he wore that ensured Phil couldn't see him get caught on the doorhandle. He let out a tiny gasp as he felt it break away from his wrist and all he could do was watch in horror as parts of the thick silver bracelet fell to the ground, making him visible to Phil, after all these years.

Phil hummed as he made his way towards Starbucks, trying to think of what to post on his YouTube channel that day. His channel now had a few thousands subscribers and was growing. Phil didn't even know what to make of the sudden spike in people that watched his content. What had started out as a hobby had quickly become his job. That was how he could go into Starbucks at some random time of the day instead of being stuck at his old boring desk job. Phil smiled at the barista that always served him and his eyes widened as he was given some sort of award. He couldn't even believe his luck at that point with how many good things had been happening. What he didn't know was how much better things were about to get. With his drink in his hand, he started to make his way out the door, and paused at the sight of a beautiful man struggling at the door. Phil bent down to get the bracelet and held it out for the boy. "Sorry about your bracelet. It was a beautiful one." Phil said, holding it out for the brown eyed boy to take. For some reason there was something so familiar about this boy. It made Phil want to find out why.

Dan just stood there for a moment, looking at Phil with wide eyes. He had been with this boy for his entire life yet this was the first time that Phil had ever spoken to him, The first time Phil had even even /seen/ him. He swallowed thickly and quickly took the bracelet "T-Thank you" he stuttered. He knew he might get in trouble for this, an elf was to never show himself to their human. Although it had been an accident which could mean he might get off with a warning. Finally he managed to get his legs to work as he started to back out there door in an attempt to leave.

Phil had this massive smile on his face as he eyes met the other boys. For some reason he felt safe, almost like home. It had Phil dying to get to know him better so he could figure out why. Posting a video could wait a little while if it meant accomplishing just that. At least that's what he thought. Before he got the chance to say anything else the boy was leaving and it made Phil sad. Phil didn't have long to think before he was chasing the brown eyed boy down, grabbing his arm to stop him. "Hey wait! I didn't even catch your name." Phil said, slightly out of breath since he wasn't really in that good shape. "Mine is Phil."

Dan bit his lip, rather hard as he was stopped by Phil. God he was going to be in trouble for this but he turned to face Phil and gave a weak smile "Dan, My names Dan" he said softly as he slipped the bracelet into his pocket finally. He had to admit he kind of liked the way Phil's fingers felt against his skin. He couldn't get to attached to this, he knew he couldn't because soon he would have to slip back into the background of his life.

Phil could tell Dan was nervous and had to wonder why. He was naturally a very curious person, always needing to know the reason behind everything. "Hi Dan! It's nice to meet you." Phil moved his hand from Dan's arm so that they could shake hands. Really though he just wanted the chance to hold the boys hand for a few moments. For some reason he really wanted to know what it would feel like. Especially with how Phil already was feeling about the brown eyed boy.

Dan let Phil take his hand and shook Phil's quickly before withdrawing "It's nice to meet you to, Phil" he said softly. Although it wasn't like he was meeting Phil for the first time, although Phil was meeting him for the first time. "I uh...should uh..be going" he said softly, chewing on his lip slightly. He didn't actually want to go, he wanted to spend more time with Phil like this but he knew that was very against the rules. He gave Phil another quick smile "But it was nice meeting you!"

Phil smiled that big smile of his once again as he got to experience Dan's hand in his own, even if it was far too short for him. He wanted so much more than that. For some reason there was something about Dan that really drew him in. That's why he pouted when Dan said he had to be leaving. Phil had only properly known Dan for a few minutes and yet he already knew he didn't want the boy to leave. He had to scramble to find excuses for the boy to stay with him. "Wait.. Can I buy you a coffee or something sometime? There's something familiar about you and I want to find out why." Phil said, opting to tell the truth.

Dan swallowed thickly and shook his head, knowing that wouldn't be possible once he got a new bracelet. "I don't think that's going to be possible" he said softly, quickly thinking of an excuse as to why "I'm moving out of town tomorrow" he lied quickly, flashing the other a quick little smile. Oh how he hated to lie to Phil, he didn't want to lie to the precious boy but he didn't have much choice in the matter.

Phil bit the inside of his lip, trying not to show how rejected he was feeling. He'd never been that good at handling rejection and this felt so much worse. He faked a soft little smile as he looked back up at the boy. "Oh. That's okay. Good luck in your next town." Phil's tone was oddly steady as he had to look back away from the brown eyed boy again. It made him sad to think this would more than likely be the last time he ever saw him. "I should probably get going anyway. I've got some work to do. It was nice meeting you, Dan." Phil said quickly before he turned to head back to his flat, needing to leave before he said something stupid.
