This is for Zero's (timelesslywasted) contest!
I'm not used to writing cute, fluffy stuff. I prefer making readers cry, but #ohwell. December is an appropriate time to write something like this.
Enjoy!

Aphmau had invited everyone in Phoenix Drop to her own Christmas party, and every invitee was going. After all, who wouldn't? After Lady Irene Day, this was the biggest celebration here. Plus, Aphmau threw the best parties, and not attending them would be your own loss. That was why everyone went there.
I was clad in a blue-and-white checkered, full-sleeve shirt. The blond bird's nest that I called my hair was neatly brushed out. Fully prepared to go, I soon headed out to the party.

Grand decorations greeted me as I stepped through the door. On every wall hung icicles and stockings, and cheery music was playing. A lot of people seemed to be indulging themselves in some baked goods. The spectacle of the party, the ginormous Christmas tree, was situated in the center of the banquet, detailed with bells and some of Zoey's fairy lights. Some wrapped-up presents sat at the base of the tree.
Aphmau spotted me and squealed, running up to me. Beside her was Katelyn. With her light blue hair pulled to the side, she looked like a princess (well, more than Nicole, anyway). "We're so glad you could make it, Garroth!"
"I wouldn't miss it," I said, smiling.
Right, I forgot to mention. Aphmau and Katelyn were married. Shocking, I know. I'd've expected either Laurance or me to be with her, and if not, maybe Aaron or Dante would have had a chance. Even the table could've married her, but it turned out to be Katelyn. Who would've guessed?
"Great! I think nearly everyone is here now," observed Katelyn. "The only guest left is--oh, speak of the devil. Laurance, over here!"
Laurance flashed a grin as he headed towards us. "Am I late?"
"Just in time, actually!" Aphmau expression drastically turned into a frown when she noticed a commotion going on nearby. "Dale, stay away from the root beer!"
As she stormed away to handle the situation, Katelyn turned to Laurance and me. "Sorry, I'm going to go help her. You two can help yourselves to Kawaii~Chan's cakes. Whatever you do, don't even dare leave the main room." Despite the fact she turned completely murderous in her last sentence, she went back to normal and followed Aphmau to whatever was going on.
"So, Garroth," started Laurance, "when did you get here?"
"Like, two minutes before you did," I answered. "Do you want to go get some cake and meet up with Dante and Aaron?"
Laurance shook his head, and a sly grin crept up his face. Uh-oh. I knew what that look meant: trouble. "No," he said, "I have a better idea. We should pull a prank on them."
"By them, do you mean Dante and Aaron, or Katelyn and Aphmau?" I asked, instead of calling him crazy for this idea. I knew that he'd be able to convince me eventually, so I gave in easily.
Laurance shrugged. "You'll find out soon enough."
"What's the prank, though?"
"You'll find that out later, too."
