Max was up earlier than usual in the next day, grinning to himself as he walked into his office. He kept checking the clock almost every five minutes as he waited for the agent's visit. It wasn't long before the woman on the front desk called him.
"Ms Barlow is here to see you, sir."
"Send her in." He says quickly, almost not even letting the woman finish her sentence which makes her frown.
"Alright..." she mutters before hanging up.
A few seconds later, Eidligh walks in, looking even more gorgeous than the last time he'd seen her ( if that was even possible ). He tries not to let his jaw drop as he stands up, holding his hand out for her.
"Good morning, Ms Barlow. Thank you for seeing me today." He says politely with a smile.
"Well, I couldn't really avoid it, now, could I?" She asks a bit mockingly, keeping her hand to herself.
Max frowns as he looks down at his hand before quickly pulling it back and clearing his throat. "Um...have a seat..." he mumbles as he sits down himself.
Eidligh does as she's told, crossing one leg over the other as she leans back on her chair. "So...I understand that I'm here to talk about the 00 programme?" She raises her eyebrows.
"Uh, yes! Yes, presicely so." Max nods, going into full professional attitude right now. "You see, Ms Barlow...I have done my research, and it seems that you and 007 are the top agents in this programme."
She can't help but let a small smirk spread across her lips as she shrugs. "What can I say? We're the best. What does that have to do with anything, though?"
"It has to do with the fact that you are also the messier agents out there." He states coldly. "The amount of money MI6 has to pay after each one of your missions is insanely large."
Eidligh frowns at his tone. What happened to the cute little puppy who was drooling all over her a few minutes ago? "Our work /is/ messy." She snaps. "But how would you know? You've spent your whole life behind a bloody desk." She scoffs.
Max gritted his teeth and brought his fist down on the desk, the sound echoing through the room. "Do you think this is a game, agent? Huh? I am /dead/ serious! Your programme has been the least successful one of MI6 in a /very/ long time...People don't need spies anymore, Eidligh. This is the era of technology."
"So?..." she furrows her brows in confusion. "Technology helps us carry out our daily tasks. I really don't see where this is going." She rolls her eyes.
"Well, Ms Eidligh.../This/ is going to the complete and final cancellation of the '00' programme." Max says, a smug grin spreading across his face as he sees Eidligh's confused, and quite frankly, a bit scared expression.
"W-...what do you mean /cancellation/?" She asks with a frown. "You can't just shut down the programme!" She protests, anger getting the best of her.
"Oh, but I can~...and I will." C says, his voice serious and quiet as he looks straight into her eyes.
The eye contact makes Eidligh feel a bit uneasy, so she quickly stands up. "I am an agent of this programme, and I can assure you that we are doing a pretty damn good job in keeping this country safe...You will /not/ shut down the 00 programme, Mr Denbigh. The sooner you realise that, the better it will be for all of us. Have a good day." She says before turning on her heels and storming out of his office.
Max just watches her leave, still grinning to himself. God, he loved how sexy she looked when she was angry... "We'll see about that..." he hums to himself before sighing, sitting up to turn on his laptop. He still had a lot of work to get done. The 00 programme was one of his priorities though, so he knew that he would be seeing Eidligh soon enough. And he was already getting restless just thinking about it. What he felt for that woman was unreal...She had the power to enfuriate him and make him melt with just a word at the same time. He wanted to make her his...Oh God, he /needed/ her. But he also knew that she hated his guts. Probably telling her how he's planning to leave her without a job wasn't a good idea, either...Oh, well. He needed something to capture her attention, and that was his perfect chance.

*Two days later*

Eidligh frowned as she recieved a humongous bouquet of flowers early in the morning. She tipped the delivery man before shutting the door, instantly picking up the card to read it.

"Dear Eidligh,
Would you please do me the honour of joining me for dinner tonight? I think we started off in the wrong way. -Max Denbigh xoxo"

Just under that, there was his phone number. Eidligh bit her bottom lip, brows furrowed as she contemplated wether to go or not...But then she remembered: the 00 programme. She loved her job more than anything in this world...She just couldn't live without it. And in a way, neither could England.
She grabbed her phone quickly, creating a new contact before typing in a message.

To: Max Denbigh

I would love to have dinner with you. What time do you need me to be ready? -Eidligh xoxo
