From book to book

Umbrella

Looking at him slightly confused "The other Book Keepers? Who are these other Book Keepers?" I ask raising an eyebrow while he sighs and grabs my shoulders "Listen. I cannot explain this to you when we are in an open area like this one, but I maybe I will explain this to you when we are all alone..." He says as he hears the door knock "Shit..." he whispers, then looking at me in the eyes, letting go of my shoulder. Making him face me, I look at him with a confused and slightly scared expression "Why would they want to kill me?" I ask him as he then points at the pentagon in my hand "This." He says looking at me in the eyes "What about it?" I ask raising an eyebrow and tilting my head to the side "This pentagon means that you are also a book keeper. See..." He says taking off the glove from his left hand, showing the same symbol I have on my right hand. "Anyways I have to go, but I'll explain this somewhere in which we can be alone." he says unlocking the room and leaving. Sighing while touching my forehead with my right hand as I then look at my right hand "Well then..." I say walking out of the bathroom while putting both my hands back into my pocket.

While walking I can feel someone patting my shoulder "Hello." a really familiar voice says, turning around seeing the short brunet as she looks at me in the eyes with an emotionless expression "Oh hey Mel." I say a little surprised said girl would come up to me just to say hi "What's up?" I ask slightly tilting my head "Nothing." she plainly says as she then notices my right hand, her eyes slightly widen as she taking out some gloves from her bag giving them to me "They're Mark's, but you can keep them." she says softly. Slightly surprised by such actions I take them and put them on "Why?" I ask her while she puts her back pack on "Because if others know they will try to kill you, and I believe you are not strong enough to protect yourself. Am I right?" she says flipping her hair looking at me with a serious expression "I-I guess..." I say rubbing my arm looking the other way "Shall we go." She says walking out towards the classroom "w-wait for me!" I shouted jogging my way up her.

We both walk inside of the classroom. Mark looked at us and smiled as he got up from his desk walking up to us "Hey you two. Is there something going on here?" He asks looking at Mel with a smirk "Oh brother..." she says smiling punching his stomach "You just never change." She finishes her statement as her brother kneels down grunting in pain. I looked at him covering my mouth holding back a laugh "Do you wish for the same fate, Leo?" she asks coldly not even facing me, freezing into place I nervously laugh "n-no thank you..." I say walking towards my desk.

~Time skip~

We heard the bell ring the class finishing. Getting up I can see the twins walk towards my desk "Hey have you seen Alex?" Mark asks slightly frowning "Umm..." I say looking down as I start to think of how Alex died right in front of me, my thoughts were cut off as we heard someone call us; looking back we saw our teacher with a sad expression "Mel, Mark, Leo... I have to tell you something about your friend Alex" she says with a sigh "Please follow me" she says as she sits down on her desk holding her hands looking down "he..." she says closing her eyes later looking at us "He died yesterday." she says.

Mark's eyes widen "w-what..." he says looking down shaking his head in disbelief "It can't be... Who would do this?" he whispers as Mel looks down and nods "Okay. Is that all?" she asks not facing anyone, Mark looks at her shocked "Okay... Okay?" He said forcefully grabbing her arm making her face him. She looks at him as tears starts to roll down her cheeks "Everyone has to die, no?" she says softly sobbing. Mark looks at her and pulled her into a hug "I'm sorry..." He says holding her tightly.

Looking at them and seeing how sad they were because of Alex's death, I just couldn't help but feel guilty for not being able to help my own best friend out. I walked towards the door not even looking back, opening the door I looked forward as I felt my eyes becoming watery "I'm sorry Alex." I thought to myself walking out of the classroom slamming the door.

Minutes has passed and I was all alone roaming around the hallways, that is until I felt someone grip onto my shirt and pull me "I know you did it." a serious voice said, turning around I saw a small girl with Orange hair death glaring me "You.... You are nothing but trash.... You couldn't even help him; you are the lowest human I have ever seen in my life. He was your best friend and yet you didn't do anything, but watch..." she got close to me with an umbrella in hand "G-Gabi... What are you going to do with that umbrella...?" I asked backing away slowly "That should've been you... You should've been the one that died like the piece of shit that you are!" she shouted running towards me with tears rolling down her cheeks "I-I... I'm sorry..." I said running away from her "Liar!" she shouts running just as fast feeling her chase me down. Gabi now running right beside me she started to swing the umbrella around since the umbrella has a knife at the tip, she slashing my left arm and cheek "Die!" she shouts as she then slashes the back of my leg making me fall to the ground.

I looked at my arm later then looking at my bleeding leg "shit..." I whispered to myself "I got you now" she says with a psychotic smile as she takes the umbrella over her head. Trying to back away I then notice that the stair were right behind me so there was no escape "I'll finally get justice." she says swinging the umbrella from over her head "Die!" she says smiling "Or not..." another female's voice said as she kicks her making Gabi fall from the stairs.

During the fall the umbrella open when hitting one of the stairs; Gabi during the fall she sees the umbrella open, her eyes widen as the umbrella then penetrates her stomach poking the book. I looked at the whole scene, my eyes widen, and I start to tear up "Let's just finish this shall we?" the female say, looking back "M-Mel...?" I say confused as she takes out a pair of scissors from one of the pockets from her dress. Mel walks down the stairs slowly getting closer to Gabi. Getting there she holds Gabi's head making her face up "It was nice to have you as a friend... I'm sorry..." Mel says gripping the scissors with a swift movement of her hand she slashes her throat as blood starts to squirt out of her open wound "W-why... Why did you do that?" I shouted at her as I slowly get up limping towards her "By hearing the conversation it sounded she was also there when the whole thing happened. At the time you were a simple human so it is normal for you to react that way, but she was a book keeper. If she truly did love Alex she would try her best to kill the person and protect him. She is the one that is truly trash." Mel says kneeling down roughly pulling the umbrella from her.

The umbrella was stuck in Gabi's stomach, Mel grabs the handle of the umbrella as she starts pulling it with force, when she pulls it out completely that the umbrella had impaled the book. She grabs the book form the umbrella and then she unhooks it; throwing the umbrella to the side, putting the book in her bag "I am going to stay with it for now, I will give it to you most probably tomorrow" She says looking at him as she then turns around and leaves without a word.

Looking at the body with horror I then started to limp my way down. While going down I can see Mel reading a random book and Mark leaning on the wall as if they were both waiting for someone "Hey you guys. What are you still doing here?" I asked with curiosity, Mel stopped reading and Mark glanced at my way as he straighten himself up facing me "We were waiting for you." He says with a smile as Mel puts the book back in the bag "Yeah. I told him that you were hurt and considering you are taller than me, I believe you will be heavy so I asked Mark if he could help." She says looking at me with her usual stoic face "Thank you." I said limping myself down, until I felt some strong arms wrapping around my waist "Put your arm around me." Mark says looking at me with his usual smile, nodding I wrapped my arm around his shoulder as we started to walk.

"What happened there?" Mark asked not facing me as we kept walking "Where?" I asked glancing at him feeling slightly confused "With Alex..." He says in serious yet slightly sad tone "An unknown man killed him... I suppose to take his book, but he didn't found it." I said feeling slightly sad looking down as I remember how the whole thing happened "Sorry I mentioned it." He says awkwardly laughing "It's alright." I said as I could see Mel glancing at our way.

We all arrived outside and I let go of Mark "Leo what are y-" I suddenly cut him off  by trying to squirm out of his grip "I feel better now so don't worry about it, okay?" I say looking at the both of them. Mark looked at me not believing me, but Mel then touched his shoulder and he let me go "If you want you may come to our house and we can discuss some things with you." Mel says with a small smile as Mark nodded. They both waved goodbye to me, later walking out of the school.

I took a deep breath and then sighed "Today was sure one hell of a day." I say to myself while I walk outside "It sure was huh." I heard a deep masculine voice as I turn around to see him leaning on the wall, looking at me with his usual unemotional expression.
