I called Amy in for answers; we sat in a cold empty room. I asked and she answered, but I something seemed to link to Justin Rainer murder. I dismissed her, and then my thoughts turned to the evidence bag. I thought to myself Justin must’ve called someone or texted someone before his murder. My hand reached for his phone and I scrolled up to the latest text. I was from a girl named Lucy, Lucy Gail. Her name seemed familiar, nevertheless I called her in. She sat there still as a statue, her blue eyes filled with anxiety.
“Were you at Justin’s house?” I questioned.
“Yes, but only because he called me” her voice was unsteady.
“Do know who killed him; were you present there when this happened?” I demanded.
“Yes I, I was there, but I didn’t kill him, he was drunk and he was not being himself I tried to stop him but he kept pulling me closer” tears were now trickling down her rosy cheeks. Lucy pushed her blond hair back and wiped her tears away.
“Do you know who killed Justin? We found you’re had prints on the gun. One of them was yours. Tell us everything” I barked
“Please no, I didn’t mean to and I didn’t pull the trigger, I know. Why would I kill Justin, he was everything to me. ” New tears formed in her eyes. On the corner of my eye I noticed something strange… she suddenly started breathing harder and it seemed like something was wrong with her chest. I quickly called in the nurse. I was now waiting in the lobbies or a Hospital. The doctor called me in to his office. I could tell something was up. His eyes were cold and sweat formed around his forehead.
“Is everything okay with Lucy? I mean is anything wrong?” I asked, eager to know what was up; one of my habits.
“I’m sorry to say” he started, “Lucy Gail has been diagnosed with a rare mental illness. We think it was started when she was around… 18 due to extreme stress.”
“What the cause, and the symptoms?” I was eager again.
“The patient will feel pain in the chest as well as difficult breathing when they’re exposed to stressful environments they might also twitch, and not knowing they had” The doctor responded.
“Can the patient face any, long term symptoms or short term symptoms?” I questioned.
“Yes, when the patient is exposed to stressful environments they will tend to lose one little piece of their memory. For example they running late for a meeting and they bump into someone and drop their things; they’ll forget that they bumped into someone or that they dropped their things. So basically a really small detail of their memory.” The Doctor explained.
“The smallest details count” I murmured to myself.
“Sorry, what was that?”
“Nothing, and thanks for your help” I replied.
I left the hospital. Could Lucy have pulled the trigger because of the stress? It made perfect sense. The handgun that belonged to Justin has a silencer which reduced the noise level and the deleted memory of Lucy pulling the trigger. It all came together.
Since Lucy was mental patient, I couldn’t take her in, but thankfully she’ll be taken in the metal institution.
Another case solved.
