Jade Chan: She is twelve years old, and is a vagabond who has travelled from Lexington, Kentucky to Chicago, Illinois so she can see the sights there. Unfortunately for her, when she is at a bank one day, bad luck strikes for her as she gets abducted by Baby Face Nelson, a member of a gang of bank robbers, whose leader is John Dillinger, when they show up to rob the bank.

John Dillinger: He is a bank robber, and is also very courteous to women and children. Upon finding out that Baby Face Nelson has captured a hostage — and a child hostage at that — he takes a liking to her.

Baby Face Nelson: His real name is Lester Gillis, and one of his aliases is 'Jimmy Nelson'. He dislikes being called "Baby Face" because of his youthful looks, and has a volatile temper as well as a love for violence. As a result, this makes him very bloodthirsty. While at a bank one day, he lays eyes on none other than Jade Chan, twelve, and decides she'll make the perfect hostage. With that, he abducts her.
