ITS ONLY STRANGE enough to know that you're moving out of a place you love, but even stranger when you're already out of there.
Going to a new town, moving in a new house and trying to adjust to a new school. Very strange indeed. Although I hope people here are the type of people that stay in their own business.
We ride through a dark forest, trees standing as high as they want, animals hiding in their homes, and dead silent.
I couldn't decipher what it felt like, it looked eerie, empty, soulless.
Mother rolled up to a big house, it was black and vines wrapped around it as if it were to protect it. I looked up at it, squinting my eyes at the balcony. A dark shadow moved past. If I had blinked while it passed, I wouldn't have seen it.
"Ivy! Come help me with the bags!" My mother shouted as I walked closer to the house. I don't know what made move forward but it was like a force.
"I'll be there in a minute mother,"I said. Walking closer to the house, I stepped on the white and black porch, red leaves decorated the porch like it was done on purpose. It looked beautiful.
I walked towards the double doors and hesitated on turning the rusty gold handles. What if there was someone inside? What if they came for my mother and I? Sighing, I rolled my eyesa at my thoughts.
Turning the handles, I stepped inside the house, I expected it to be dusty, and old. But it wasn't. I heard a creak upstairs and turned to face the stairs—
"Don't you like what I've done to the house, Rain?"My mother spoke up from behind using my middle name.
I didn't flinch. I didn't care what she did to the house— "I asked it to refurbished and asked to put all the old books and things of the last owner in the attic."Mother said.
I stared straight ahead past her shoulder when I saw a flicker of black. Could be my imagination. But then again, my imagination doesn't really stretch.
"Ivy Rain, what are you staring at?" Fucking names.
I ignored her, and walked around her, going up the stairs. "I'll be right back, I just, want to pick a room." I could feel her stare burning holes in my back.
I tread up the stairs and walk down a long hallway, doors lining the walls.
"Ivy, I've chosen the one at the beginning on the left!" My mothers voice echoed down the hall and into my ears. The room is at the beginning of the hallway, that's good. Now I'll choose the one at the right; at the end of the hallway, far away from you.
I walk to the room at the end of the hallway and open the door. It creaks as I walk in and look around; high-ish ceilings with a chandelier in the middle, black painted walls, carpeted floor, and a desk?
I walked to the desk and ran my finger over it. No dust, not like the other dusty rooms.
"Hmm." I hummed out. I pulled at its drawers but I couldn't, it was locked, or stuck shut. Backing away from the desk, I moved away from the desk and checked out the closet;
Fairly big.About to turn away from the closet, I froze in place and heard a squeaky noise that sounded like it came from above. I walked into the mini walk-in-closet again and looked at the ceiling, if I didn't hear that sound coming from above I wouldn't have seen a little crack that shaped a door.
